I'd have another. The reason I got my mx5 over one is the probability of the RS Clio breaking is more than the MX5 and at the minute that is a priorority due to not wanting to blow savings on car repairs.
Re: The 'TeamAriane' clio... Ghetto goodness.
Don't lie like your bothered about heatsoak ;)
Have you seen the K&N on my MX5? Cabled tied to the strut brace directly over the exhaust manifold. Its proper rig up/pikey. Sounds good with the roof off though!
Re: The 'TeamAriane' clio... Ghetto goodness.
Get the airfeeds off that airbox! You'll love the noise. You'll be shocked how much extra induction noise you get.
Its in good condition, I was just on about the dashboard design etc. It was designed in the 80's though so it makes sense. I just didn't realise they made the E30 up until 1994, thought it was around 91-92.
A ph1 172 is no less comfortable than a 182 though. They have the same seats, both have AC, the ph1 has a more powerful stereo, they ride exactly the same. The only thing less comfortable you could argue is the lack of cruise control on the ph1, and climate if your too lazy to adjust the heating...
I didn't find the one I drove massively different in terms of pace to the 1.2 16v MK2 I had at the time. It has more mid range shove and is a little bit quicker through the gears, it is noticeable but not hugely. Its a nice engine though, boosts from about 2000rpm and holds it nicely to 6000rpm...
Thats not strictly true. The only thing thats cheaper is the cam/aux belt change because of the AC however you can get cups with AC too so servicing is no different on them. Other than that servicing costs are exactly the same for cup models. The idea is really to buy a car with the belts...
For £4k you should be able to get a nice 182. Judging by what you've written you'd probably find a ph1 172 too old, despite imo it being the pick of the 1*2's bar the trophy.
Reasons i'd go for a 182 over a ph2 172 is the looks (ph2 172's look like a 1.2 when on standard wheels), all 182's...
If I was to choose between the two i'd go for the ph1, I lvoe them. However if I had a good cup that had had work carried on it then i'd keep it. Not worth risking getting a nail of a ph1. Good ones are getting increasingly rarer.
It won't be any louder. The reason the 182's are a little louder is its just a bigger engine with a little bit more induction noise. Exhausts are basically silent on them standard.
Imagine the tuning potential of the RS3 though. A mapped TTRS will skin a Audi R8 so the RS3 is going to be pretty much the same pace as the TTRS. Scary quick with a few tweeks, standard it will be bloody quick too.
I'm up for this. Trying to fit camping stuff into an mx5 will be interesting. Anyway balls to it, a £10 tent from Argos, 120 cans of Fosters and 3 bottles of Amaretto should see me right. Who needs shelter, warmth and clothes!
To be honest on a non sport I wouldn't be overly concerned. My mx5 has no service history yet I've got photo's of the cambelt being changed and the cars in good condition and has a few OEM upgrades. The type of people who have cambelt changes and go far enough to document it with pic (ex owner...
I thought you were liking the GT? This is why I didn't get a 1.2 TCE Dynamique S when they first come out. Went and test drove one etc then decided whilst being slightly faster and a nicer car than my 1.2 16v MK2 at the time, it was never going to be the RS Clio I wanted so waited a year.
The...
Think I may be going for a 4 in April. 12 month contract with Tesco. Have to pay £229 for the phone but can easily sell it for that in 12 months time. Hopefully then the 5 will be out and a reasonable price.
I'd probably go for the 182. I can't really see any advantage of a 172 cup over a ph1 172. The ph1 is just as light bar 15kg which is negligible and has the cable throttle for the better throttle response, has ABS and AC.
