If you have wiplash then claim. I would, and have, because every other person on the road will and you may as well recover some of the rediculous amounts you've previously paid out for insurance. Over the last 4 years my insurance bill is nealry £4K and I haven't made one claim.
Off topic but why would anybody put PH2 172 wheels on a PH1.
Why take the worst thing about one car (ph2) and replace one of the best parts of the other, OZ F1 Cups are awesome.
Not your place to get involved. If my grandad wnted to buy me a nice car for my 21st i'd take it. Does that make me a scrounging b*****d? I think not.
And thats coming from somebody who has paid for and insured every car i've had.
I agree with you but in some cases Diesels are better than petrols. I'd rather have a Clio DCi than 1.2.
Best of both worlds for me would be a turbo petrol. Torque and revs, thats what you need.
I found my 172 to be a decent motorway cruiser, bar the stealth booming away but that was my fault.
I liked motorway trips in my 172, they've got comfy seats, decent sound system, enough torque for overtaking and would return over 40mpg on the motorway doing sensible speeds.
Obviously a...
I think people are running out of ideas. The tuners have made things like ITB's, Turbo's and SC's common and easy to achieve with a few quid.
I remember Ryan from NW Performances turbo build thread back in 2008, it was something relivately new and people where interested. Now its just i've...
W17GLE off here has a 150bhp CDTI Vectra with a tuning box and he can get over 60mpg out of his on the motorway and 50 around town.
Thats a bigger heavier car too.
I'd get a decent tuning box though, over on the Astra forums theres a really popular one that makes a good 200bhp and around 330lbft. Theres more to it that headline power figures, want to make sure its a decent map ad will be healthy for the engine.
Its good your getting a free car though...
I think everybody should do a lap of the ring at some point in their life. Its something I really want to do. Things like this do put you off though, its so expensive if you have a bump there and there is so few insurance companies that will cover you on the ring.
The hire cars seem a good...
Looks good that mate. Like it.
The 1.2's can be made to look really good. Set of Turini's, Pro Race 1.2's or something on there and it will look superb.
Its really easy. I managed it and it was the first time i'd done anything with electrics.
I cocked up first time around though, my rear fogs come on instead of rear lights, sorted it straight away though and all was good.
Would make sence to me with the 1.4TCE. The name GT lends itself to a reasonably strong torquey engine, not a peaky 1.6.
The 2.0 VVT would be good, but for emmisions, tax and insurance the 1.4 TCE would be a better all around choice.
I would too actually. It may not snap for years. I know of a ph1 172 on 120K thats still on its origional cambelt so you could get away with it for years, or it could be hours.
Either way its a win win situation because you can't lose money on it.
So that would be around £5.5K for an RS Twingo, I wouldn't pay that for a Veyron. I don't know how you manage to pay so much for insurance Jason.
The GT must make sence to people though because I've seen a fair few on the road. Not my cup of tea personally but they are a nice car. They sound...
Its a great gearknob on the ph1. Really nice to use.
My problem with mine though was if it was -5 outside, the knob was about -10. I had to wear gloves in winter for the first 10 mins of driving.
Belts can be done for around £430. Brakes all around if you do them yourself are about £200 for decent ones. Shocks are £50 each iirc again no labour if you do them yourself.
Looking at around £750ish DIY or about £900 from a garage i'd say. The main cost there is the cambelt really. If its...
