To be honest mate, depending on your budget a 'budget' build isn't as bad as it sounds - ie an internally standard engine (bar a set of arp's for safety) with itb's is really good fun - much more lively than standard which a good 20+lb ft torque advantage throughout the rev range - this you...
Just to confirm mate these are not generally a bit lumpy after a belt change, they should be spot on from the off.
As Mick gas said it does sound timing related but it could be a coincidence so speak to the garage and see what they say to hegin with
All depends on your budget mate.
If your suspension is up together (new bushes, top mounts, suspension, steering rack bushes etc) and brakes are sorted then engine wise I'd do the following:
Ph1 airbox with panel filter
Matched inlets
Decent cat back exhaust (sounding nice makes you...
Good to see there are plenty of nice ones out there pete!
I opened my garage, shuffled past the clio to grab a few bits off the work bench and shut the garage again - so all I've done is fold the mirror in, poor things not been out in two weeks
Word of advise, have you taken into consideration the insurance costs when you have made a replica? At your age it wouldn't suprise me if it would nearly cost you the same as a standard 172 - please check this out before making a decision
Have you had the wheel alignment set mate? Replacement of the tie rods would need the front geo reset.
Also what shockers were fitted? Geniine or aftermarket? They could be the wrong rating and may be too soft
I'd try to get it s little cheaper mate, full belt kits plus dephaser are circa £550-£600 at the specialists on here, can't see the water pump costing that much extra?
Good to hear mate - as meantioned too move the map sensor to the other end of the manifold - I'm sure being so close to the tb won't give it the correct readings as it won't give a full indication of inlet filling
I'd love a set of 421's but can't justify the costs of buying them, a new belt plus mapping changes - gains I imagine should be pretty noticable but thats the pitfalls of n/a tuning I suppose
Welcome mate, advise I can give is don't bother with the stripes and tints etc, put your money into a nice set of wheels (15 or 16 inch) and lower it - it will improve the looks and handling and will be easily reversible when you come to sell the car
Welcome mate I have moved this to the correct section, should get more advise in here.
Shame to here whats happened, I recommend becomming a paid member - this will give you acess to both the specialists section and the for sale and wanted sections - your best bet is a 2nd hand engine.
