Obviously we'll just have to wait and see at the begining of Feb.
But I'm confident that it will be the same as mine. Obviously theres talk of adjusting the VVT as in the dephased state there's little to no valve overlap but this is something Paul experimented with the last time on the...
As has been established in every other thread of this type it's down to what the owner wants.
In my case I had an immaculate 30k Trophy that I'd owned from new. not a single mark on it. I figured for what I'd get for the car and the cost of the turbo conversion that an equally priced evo or...
Yeah I've heard all that about engine efficiency but thats not the case with these unfortunatley.
I'm surprised the greddy and omex are compatible as I would of expected a similar set up to mine. With the boost controller seperate and controlling the boost (obviously) and the ECU just reading...
Easy!
So are they looking to actually connect the boost controller to the omex? and are they confident you won't suffer the same boost drop as me, butch and ryank?
Not at all mate just a little bit of jest between two clio turbo owners.
On a different note, you looking forward to getting the car mapped at full boost at the beginning of Feb?
Well I'm very surprised if they did, as the turbo they provide is relatively small and therefore gives great low down boost and spool up.
I'll check my graphs tonight and tell you exactly when it starts boosting and when it hits full boost but it's certainly not 5K+
Come on Darren don't be like that, not everyone can just stroll into Ktec put 10K on the table and tell them "one of your low comp turbo conversions please, and throw in an omex for good measure" ;)
I apreciate the fact that with a SC it only produces a positive pressure on the inlet side and therefore works very well on NA cams.
However I can also see that with any overlap the positive pressure being blown straight through the engine and into the exhaust.
Now whilst as you've said...
I'll be honest I have'nt looked at any engine data for a 197/200 but if it only has the same 15/16 degrees on the inlet as a 182 then you still wont be able to dial out all the overlap.
You'd be better off with the cat cams 5504402 or custom.
Cat cams quote the group N (stock) cams for a 197 at 287 inlet and 282 exhaust now I'm not sure if those are the definite timings or even if the 200 is the same, but if they are, it's a massive amount of overlap and thats not something you want on a forced induction engine.
For the hassle of a well setup turbo running low comp and only hitting 280bhp I'd save a couple of grand and have a supercharger running stock internals and be happy with 250-260bhp
Darren, Scoffs car did indeed make 551bhp as I was standing next to it when it did, but even he admitted that...
These threads seem to be quite a regular thing now and it always amazes me how many people have opinions on this matter who've never actually seen a forced induction clio let alone driven one.
As is stated in every other thread like this, anyone who parts with 4K on the advice of people on a...
Once we get a list of who's interested and where they live we can pick somewhere in a central location.
What about tour de force? as Icarus has quite a good reputation on here and he's done some great work on Kevs car?
Just a suggestion.
Unfortunatley not , as has already been mentioned early in the thread peoples driving abilities vary massively, on top of that people running stripped out clios with coilovers and r888 are going to be at a massive advantage on track compared to those who's cars are in road guise. Besides if this...
Right this is some thing that I've thought about as well and really think that there's far to many variables to get a conclusive result.
A large dyno shoot out would probably be the best idea, it will be a lot easier to organise and the results will show exactly what people are getting for...
To be honest Adrian i think your just beating about the bush with your above reply, why don't you just come out with what you really mean? PMSL
Fin I'm with Ade on this, you really need to sort everything out before going on an extreme engine mod like forced induction, having an amazing engine...
Thats why I think it would be good to have a dyno shootout in the summer at an impartial rolling road, that way if everyone is tested on the same day at near enough the same time there can't be any excuses, and the truth will be reavealed. :)
Steve
Well it's a much better improvement on the 206bhp and 180lb/ft torque that my initial kit made. Obviously my boost was dropping off to about 5psi though
Nice to see that you can put a little bit more boost through it on stock internals. If you can get a boost controller (or solenoid for the gen 90) to maintain the boost you'll probably be up near the SC kits in power but obviously more torque.
Did you leave the VVT phased or did you switch it...
