    Aux belt change?

I was saying if I had no history idea change I'd change the whole kit, don't scrimp because it will cost you.

    Can you powdercoat them too?

    Aux belt change?

Waterpumps rarely go, check for any play. If the water pump was on the cambelt I'd always change it. The spare pulley is an idler pulley, undo it through the wheel arch. Me personally if there was no history of a recent change I would do it for piece of mind, bent valves an a head rebuild...

    Aux belt change?

You can get both the kits for around 170 I paid about 160 for the tooling from Renault The belt is quite easy really, there's a lot to take out the way first though. I wouldn't recommend it as a first belt, depends how confident you are. It's similar to a Zetec se, non of the pulleys are keyed...

    Aux belt change?

Just buy a full aux kit, don't be tight cause it'll cost you later. Wests Renault and Renault Parts Direct both had aux kits on offer at around the 60 pounds mark iirc If the aux belt does fail it usually causes the timing to slip on the f4r due to the lack of keyed pulleys. Hope this helps.

Clio 172/197 forged turbo engine build

My cousin brought that car off scoff years ago, scoff an haz at the time built it to what it pretty much looks like there with the 1.7 in it. I always thought it was wrote off not long after me cousin got rid. Good to see it again. Sorry for the hijack

    Car won't start help

Doubt it will be corroded at that age, if you are going to tap it with something don't use a spanner. If you short the terminals you will know about it! Use a hammer handle but I'd be suprised if you can get at it easily.

    Car won't start help

I've heard starter failures aren't unheard of, do you get any sort of clicking from the starter? Have you tried bumping it? I only had my 197 for 10 months so never really encounter an issues.

Awesome chip, I missed it in action last year. Also after chatting to you about various things on here it would be nice to put a name to the face haha

    Thoughts? More responsive throttle

Oh no doubt, you won't have to open the thottle as much as it will flow more air due to the enlargement but they'll be a point when the engine meets its maximum airflow capabilities due to another factor, an that will be before the thottle is at maximum angle, so why make it bigger? Just be...

    Thoughts? More responsive throttle

Exactly, the inlet is manifold itself is more restrictive. Accordding to "chip" it hits maximun air flow log before maximun thottle angle is achieved. People just assume bigger is better, an because its 200 quid it works! Renault spend millions developing these cars, if a bigger thottle was...

    Solid tops

Yep, the eibach bolts have nothing to do with the top mounts. They are fitted to the hub end of the strut an alter the camber by pivoting the hub.

    Is there a way to....

Just whip the old one out quickly with new one to hand an fit the new one quickly. Then just bleed any air out the system an top up with 50/50 type d coolant, personally for the money I'd change it but I can understand what your saying matey.

    Thoughts? More responsive throttle

N/A tuning on the f4r is very expensive for not a very big gain, boosted converisons are usually more expensive (depending how diy it is) but you get more bhp for the money an alot of scope for future tuning.

    Ph1 & ph2 cats/decat the same?

Yep, far as I am aware. I fitted a oreaca group N system from ktec that is listed for a ph1 172 to my 2002 ph2 172 without a problem.

    Thoughts? More responsive throttle

Whats wrong with putting your foot down? Have you tried switching the esp off? My old 197 seemed to be more responsive then if I'm honest, maybe just in me head haha. As for enlarging you thottle body from what I've read in a recent thread its a waste of time an money, heres the link...

    Thoughts? More responsive throttle

Cup racers run different management. Also the loom will need altering to have some sort of tps an icv, the fbw thottle takes care of all of this. Swapping is not as straight forward as you imagine.
  25. N

    Thoughts? More responsive throttle

That will no doubt need aftermarket management, can't see standard ecu supporting it.

Why are there so many people with N/S rear caliper problems?

The gaiters have always seemed a bit s**t to me. Up until now I've never had a problem an I've owned numerous saxos an clios. I have noticed the amount of threads though.

Fitting rear strut...should be simple! Help please :)

And you think that's safer, do you know how much force will be put on that small strut in an accident? Put the spanners down an leave it to a professional
