everytime i steer left and accelerate, i get a constant knocking noise (knock knock knock, until i lift off, or straighten up), but cant quite work out where its coming from.
It doesnt happen when i first drive the car, but it gradually gets worse as i drive to the point where it sounds...
what makes you think that?
think you're thinking about mineral oil on old engines? Cant see why you couldnt run a fully synthetic on a new engine - its just a fully manufactured oil, purposely made to serve its purpose.
think i'd wait on oilman's reply first.
personally i'd just change the oil instead of mixing it, its almost as easy, and better for the engine in theory!
personally i'd be inclined just to glue them in, i've never had to remove my centre caps ever. Otherwise you could do something with the clips to stop the caps coming off.
Depending on what wheels they are, you could maybe just leave them off and it'd look ok.
helloooo
ok, snapped timing belt, 8 valves bent, head reconditioned and valves replaced. Rockers set (finally got rid of the tapping), but when i was fitting the new timing belt (which went well for my first time!) obviously i had to take the alternator and power steering belts off - which is...
yip, heres why.
You can put a ph2 172 front on a non sport ph2. You can put a non sport ph2 front on a non sport ph1. You can put a ph1 172 front on a non sport ph1. So they're all the same really.
k-tec's arent worth it imo.
Pad is basically ebc's basic pad, discs are really no different to standard except drilled - and this is coming from someone who has had them. I'm not running ferodo pads on the k-tec discs, and its a bit better imo.
Standard discs and pagid pads would be my...
chances are, if its anything like some of the later engines, cambelt cover will need to come off to get the rocker cover off
and even then, the only way of checking if the cams turn, without turning it by hand (and if you could turn it by hand, you'd obviously have access to the belt, and be...
lol jimbo, i can barely turn my alternator pulley by hand... and thats without a cambelt. Its quite stiff even using a spanner to turn it. Cambelt snapping just means the camshaft and water pump stop turning.
Someone with little experience will have no idea how hard a pulley should be to...
had the same happen on my 1.2 8v.
Totally different engine, and only costing a few £100 to fix, but thats me doing almost all the labour.
Keeping turning the engine over can damage the pistons, although it hardly happens. Otherwise, as the cams are effectively locked - you're unlikely to...
you're best leaving the standard discs on the rear to be honest, for all the braking they actually do.
Front bearings are in the hub carrier, rear bearings are on the disc - which is what makes the discs so expensive, the design.
anti corrosion warranty's have terms usually.
One of those terms is that you take it to the dealer on a set period for a paint inspection.
Chances on actually having renault fix your paint for you after even three years is SLIM imo.
ok, renault have never made a spoiler like that for the mk2, its closer to a k-tec spoiler, probably actually is.
As for the tints, it says they're metallic on ebay, how exactly does that work? (not trying to cheeky)
personally i dont believe its rare, or came out the factory like that. It...
valuable lesson learned, lol.
Bet you atleast lifted off a bit going into or on the bend - choas in clio's in my experience.
Just put it down to inexperience. Who wrote it off? Insurance company, or are you just saying it's written off? It looks fixable at first glance - i've fixed one car...
i'd normally have said that the fuse for the left side sidelights was blown, but that wouldnt explain why the sidelights come on with headlights.
Car out of warranty? may be a problem with the UCH :(
ok, getting my cylinder head back on monday, and i'm fitting a new belt. This is my first time fitting a belt, but i'm feeling fairly confident.
What I want to know is, am i right in saying its two turns of the crackshaft for one turn of the camshaft?
If so, is it just a case of bringing...
