Sorted my new radiator out, everythings fine. but now coolant is leaking from the pipe at which comes out of the top radiator to the thermostat.
Somehow the water is getting past the metal clip and getting out of the end of the pipe at the thermostat end. Ive tried moving the clip around a...
What's going to be the best way to apply this silicone then? Am I going to need to disconnect the parts again and apply or can I just smear it Onto all the joints?
Fitted my janspeed a few weeks back but have noticed im still getting a tiny bit of liquid dripping from some of the joints on a cold start up. Ive had a feel for blowing and can feel a small amount of air blowing from the center to cat joint.
I used some paste called fire putty which was...
funny you say that actually, i did my rad yesterday with one from bullseye, cost me 120 and tenner for coolant. The old rad had a hole in it directly inline with the fan housing but i just couldnt get my head round it as the fan housing wasnt even toutching the bit of the rad which looked asif...
Had all the bumper off today to find my leak and its definatly the rad.
Anybody give me a quick guide on how to change it as ive managed to pick up a cheap one.
Its bolted onto the top of the air con rad from what i can see, does this mean the air con rad needs to come out aswel? or is there...
yeh you just need to run the permanent live to both inputs on the hu, but like mt says, its to protect the headunit so i wouldnt do it.
Also, i never new people turned off there engines at traffic lights lol.
Just change the stat. I noticed on mine that it was only warming up to a notch below halfway, now ive got a new stat in it goes to one notch above halfway much faster.
For the sake of 14 quid from gsf you might aswel just change it while your taking it out to check it anyway. Like sideways...
well changed the thermostat today with a 14 quid part from gsf which seemed to do the trick. needle now gets to where it should do. seems money was wasted on the sensor, but o well at least i wont have to worry about it again.
ive noticed though that my water doesnt seem under much pressure, i...
ah right, ill get onto it.
one more quick question before the poor car makes its way down to fred. The old temp sensor didnt have a washer on it, but the new one did. Is that normal for a replacement part?
I changed my coolant temp sensor as I though it was that giving me problems. But still the temp needle only gets up to just below half way, if I turn off the heaters then it gets to where it should be.
Is a new thermostat next on the list?
Need to get the leaky rad replaced aswel
thought id bump this thread as ill be fitting the new temp sensor tomorow but want to know if ive wasted my money getting it.
does the temp sensor control the fan?
could it have made me fail mot?
could it still be dodgy even though the dash gauge seems to work fine?
OK cheers lads, ill have to get it sorted soon then. Picking my new temp sensor up tomorow as i think thats playing up, then ill get onto the rad and getting a decat fitted.
OK cheers, so it should be ok for a few months just running water untill i get some time to get it sorted before the winter? Ive got some coolant but just seems a waste to put it in for it to leak back out.
Still not had time to see where my leak is coming from due to work etc.
I cleaned all the cleaning system out becuase previous owner had filled it with rad weld, but ive not put any coolant in for it to just leak back out over the week (it looses about half a header tank a week)
What are the...
i woyuldnt bother to be honest mate, its gona be a tad chavvy as like you said at end of day its a 1.2.
BEst thing to do if u do want a bit more noise would be to stick a cone induction kit on it as they dont sound noisy at all during normal driving, but when you boot it you still get the nice...
Hmm so could this explain my leak then, somebody noticed the rad was leaking so chucked some rAd weld in?
I've flushed it though, but looks like the rad is going to have to come ou for inspection then.
Just been draining my coolant in the process of trying to find this damn leak and also to check my thermostat and noticed the coolant has got what looks like copper filings in it? Is this just a type of coolant which has been previsously used or is itsomething serious?
When you mention a quiet decat not something like a yozza I take it you mean a complete system? As all decat pips sound the same unless you get a silenced one.
If you mean a full system with a decat then I'd highly recommend the ktec one, I've got the supersports one and it sounds amazing...
Ah right. Yeh I know, but what I meant is that the fan must work to come on with the air con, so it could be a possibility that the coolant temp sensor isn't sending the correcct info to the ecu.
Looks like best thing will be to get it plugged in then, wish I had an rstuner now.
The link you posted says a dodgy coolant temp sensor could be an issue.
I've noticed that my cooling fam doesn't come on even if I leave the engine running for ages, however the fan does work because it comes on with air con.
Does this suggest a dodgy sensor?
