Cheers Mark, looks very neat. Is the battery relocated to the boot? Where is your Omex mounted?
Andy - how about a custom rad with a chunk cut out of it to fit a more direct CAF?
Spoke to Charlie at Prospeed about one and he recommended trying to find an off the shelf model as it's a long job for a custom job. So, anyone know where I might get one?
Just done a search on wheel offsets and came up with a range of 37 - 48.5mm. I have a phase 1 172 and want to go from the standard 15" with 195/50/15 to 16" OZ Super Ts with 195/45/16. What is the definitive offset for the 16"rims if the car is lowered 50mm all round.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Mark,
I'm new to this car game, but have read as much as I can get my hands on and I could be completely wrong here. From my understanding an IK is supposed to work by sucking in air, rather than having it rammed at/into it by a closed feed. Ok the closed feed is keeping the air cooler...
I think you'll find all 172s do this if you stand on the loud pedal too quickly - but I can't elaborate further. Did it knock three or four times? I now think of it as a training programme that teaches you to put the power down correctly. ;)
Is this a first: an air filter that does actually improve performance!! Was any remapping done to the cars or does the improved air feed fit within the adaptive parameters of the standard clio ECU??
A group discount would be very popular, although it looks ugly from the drawing. Can't see the...
Cheers for that info Mark. It's good to have hard evidence to work from. Is it also the case that the length of the feed should ideally be as short as possible, as it's easier to suck up a short pipe than a long one. Therefore, and not for the purists, would a bonnet vent, feeding the filter be...
No one spends money on their car expecing it back - infact, there aren't many things you can buy that actually gain in value. If you love you car and driving then you'll be happy to spend money on it to get more out of it whether your thing is speed or looks - it's like any hobby. :)
I'll take it off your hands and do option A on my 172. You can have a go after the works complete. Seriously, if you want more fun out of your car then making it faster is the only option. I can't wait to have that 5000rpm kick all the way from 2500rpm. Send your car off to GDI/AW - you know it...
Don't get any 5 spoke pattern as they always look cack on small cars. Especially if your brake discs aren't big enough to fill behind the wheel. Super L's are great but I've heard a few stories about the spokes coming away from the rim. Turinis or Super T's (just bought these, awaiting delivery)...
Dink,
My LEDs arrived today and they're tiny. I can barely see them ha ha. They're going to be fun soldering in to place. I'll need some magnifying glasses
While searching a related topic I read that Andy at GDI recommends not connecting your CAF up to the filter (gaining <5bhp), but to leave it open and feed the area around the filter. So rather than the have the air forced in to the filter, the induction kit actual sucks in the air. I would...
Mesh the lower bumper grill and mount a bell mouth in it. That's what I'm planning. Currently the CAF inlet is mounted behind one of the upper double-slit vents in the bumper, which I don't think gives as good an air feed as a bell mouth will????
