You know what you got me thinking now lol, what if the guy said my track rod ends are shot and not the track rods, I'm pretty sure he did say track rods tho.
Would worn track rod ends give the same symtoms and if the garage order new track rods I assume track rod ends don't come with it?
Bout right then mate they want to charge an hours labour and track rods at £20 each.
You reckon that will solve the problem, I get a deep humming sound when I turn the wheel to the left at any amount over 20mph
That £80 includes full balancing and tracking quoted £28 for that seperatly so...
Right I took it to a mate at Justyres they jacked it up and checked all the wheels for me turns out it's not the wheel bearings after all the noise I'm getting is because my track rods are knackard.
Didn't really take it all in I was more intrested in the price but he said something about...
I've jacked up my front two tyres to try and find which bearing is shot, apparently if I hold the wheel at the 12 and 6'oc position I would feel some play - well I didn't.
The far as I could go to say is that the driver side one sort of clicks when i freehand the wheel forward or backwards like...
Kool will phone around a few garages round my area tommorow see what they say needs doing badly though as just recently I'd even go as far as to say it's doing it when the wheel is straight which it didn't before, bloody renault seems to eat wheel bearings.
Had an old Fiesta which never needed...
My clio is making a humming noise when I get above 20, say for example I turn the wheel to the left it doesn't matter how much it makes this really deep humming sound like the engine is revving it's nuts off.
Doesn't do it when I turn to the right I noticed it about 300 miles ago (Three days)...
Any idea how I can tell which bearing needs replacing? Like I said it only does it when I turm the steering wheel left at any amount would imagine front left?
Cheers lads could be a lot worse, o0thinks power steering pump 0o
Any idea how much a local garage going at say £20 p/h labour would charge to do wheel bearings?
I've got a MK1 Phase 2 with Power steering,
Everytime I turn the steering ever so slightly to the left I get a horrible hmmmmmmmmmm sound, really hard to describe it, mostly does it when your doing over 30.
Turning right is fine so is going straight, I've noticed the rear lhs tyre is bald...
Yeah my old one did it in 3rd - 5th too new one doesn't do it yet, but to be honest I've had three mk1 clios all three of them have done it my personal opinion on it would to be leave it be, obviously if it starts to get worse get it looked at but like I said my Clio done it for 2k+ would still...
Hi Donsrno if you look back to your old post about it I posted in it about me having the same problem, what you've described does sound like the thrust bearing. tbh. my old clio and my new clio both do it only if i kane it away from the lights tho if I pull away normally it's fine.
If I catch...
Just got a Clio RT, 1996 model nice and modest 1.4 certainly has the power behind it.
However a couple of things I've noticed, the bite point on the clutch is a lot higher than my old 1.2 RN, However I test drove another RT before getting my current one and that had a high byte too, is this...
What do you make of them, it's a 1.2 Oasis RL. Lovely condition with just under 60k on the clock.
I was wondering I'm currently driving a 5 speed Clio (Well half of one if you've been following my crash thread)
I was wondering does only having four gears hamper speed/mpg at all?
Im guessing...
To be honest I'm sure a copper would turn a blind eye should I show him the V5 that I brought it that day of course I'll get insurance sorted out first too.
I'm pretty much decided that after my old Clio had he's little fight with an Escort and lost I'm going to buy a clean low milage 54k (with history as proof) Mk1.
Problem being it isn't taxed and I'd like to drive it home legally, I was wondering if my Dad could get it taxed for me as you have...
Okay cheers - some good news my Uncle has kindly lent me £750 so I can get a new mk1 phase 2 Clio can't give up on them as I love the styling compaired to Corsa etc..
What I'm planning on doing is waiting once the car is written off get my mate to tidy the wing up and bolt a new door from the...
Yes Yella if the claim is about £1500 my premium will rise £100 which to be honest isn't that bad.
Do they take into account her cars milage etc..
What I'm really concerned with at the moment is my current lack of transport say for example I was to buy a cheap Clio tommorow I'd have to...
Thanks again guys, one final question. I was looking on What Car? to look at an est. of how much her car is worth.
This is what they came up with.
PRICES
Dealer £1,947
Private £1,541
Part Ex £965
Trade £916
If it's a total loss which price does she get paid am I right in...
I'm with CIS too, The security guard has got us on CCTV but it's one of them crappy ones which record with 4 second intervals so you see the car then the aftermath but it's got our final positions on etc..
Thanks for all the advice guys, one other thing. Any idea how long this could drag on for?
I'm thinking about getting a new Clio but I might be able to get away with a new door and have the wing straightned out a bit.
Yellabowley, I was suspecting that myself, to be honest if I wasn't there I'd blame myself as it sounds like I'm at fault even though I myself know I'm a safe driver and she was in the wrong.
Is it worth contesting the case of her speeding, I have one witness in the car with me and one...
After many of problems my Clio has finally met it's match in the shape of a Ford Escort and a women with a heavy right foot.
Was turning into my work car park off my local ind. estate, had to cross oncoming traffic checked once all clear put into correct gear (2nd) and proceeded out of...
