Its great IMO no stupid electrics to go wrong.
You should know when the car needs servicing even the serviging rules Renault say are only the ones they will warently more serviving does wonders.
Williams engine or least a Megan bottom end.
If you get the labout for free might be able to get soem cams on a MEgan bottom end for that sort of money will make way more power than £1k spent on anything else.
FOrget it I'm writing a guide if I can find what I've written at the moment I'll post it its not worthwhile though.
There no problems depends what setup you use how difficult it is.
You can use your old barrel you need the decoder ring and the plip keys from the old car.
Bin the Air con...
SERV light only comes on when there a problem.
Just gone over 80k myself n a 52 plate so 130k isn't that high on a 52 plate I've seen over a year ago another forum members car with over 80k on it its on 110k at the moment I think and he'd owned it all the time and it was all personaly milage.
Best upgrade is a WIlliams engine or a 2.0 Megan bottom end ffor power forget IK etc 2.0 botto end much quikcer for the money the Williams head will give a bit more power as well.
Remove the front bumper is the only way to remove the light as two of the bolts holding the light in are hudden under the bumper.
Front bumpers not difficult to remove thre two little clips hold the grill on under the bonnet then there one or two bolts hold each side wings in there theres 4...
Rev range isn't the problem you can rev a diesel just like a petrol just the internals need to be stong as due to the compression ratios diesel need to work.
To put it into prespective a petrol to run the same sort of pressures its like a 172 on stock compression ratio running 2.5 bar boost...
Nope phase 1's have the longer box the phase 2 and Cup use the same shorter ratio box to make up for the fact they were hevaier as they needed to be just as quick to 60 for the adverts.
There fine I think there great much better than most tyres. As tyres go contis are the best all round IMO.
Big empty wide roads or skid pans are the best track days arn't ideal IMO most corners you cannot test on.
He wanted a 172 hot hatch but wanted half price fuel with the only loss that it weight a little more with a tank in the boot. Sounds ideal to me the money you could save stick on engine tunning and go quicker than a normal weight Cup.
Nope not realy a few Hp loss maybe nothing much nooen could...
Caliper brackets from a scrappine plus calipers £50 say
New disk £50
New pads there load of choice FDB 845 from Halford £17 though I've found are great
New lines I'd recomend briaded are the best as normal ones arn't much cheaper £45.
There completly different cars the GTi is usable the V6 somehting completly different.
I'd get the GTI and regred it all the time but its more usable and cheaper plus a less scary drive on the limit.
14 or so is stock oin a 172.
150 ATW is more likly 175 at the fly was it even remapped as there loads of cams out there some better than others and getting it maped make a hug difference.
Fred you forgot the supposide ultimate
Trophy - 182 CUp just with fancy expensiv suspension and rock hard ride. Differetn whele fancy seats err V6 spolier.
Cambelt, clutch, oil, air etc filters, new gearbox oil, new mounts use th 19 4th gearbox mount
I'd also get a 2.0 bottom end for more power and there cheap so new head gasget for that.
Also depends but I'd look at binning all unnessessary wiring to make it easier so no fogs no PAS battery in...
