Yeah proper Teng jobby torque wrench wise, seperate angle gauge too and all seemed well. Used same equipment last time round and it was fine...
If it was a HG problem wouldnt I be loosing water?
I think im just gona have to leave it be, only got this month for it to last then its being put...
Yeah, headgasket was done in March/April 2009, ran fine all year apart from a bit of smoking (stem seals). Had it off in Jan/Feb 2010 replaced them, head skimmed at same time along with a new HG, been fine since then zero oil usage or smoking up until this coolant problem started...
Fuel pump changed, it went OK for a bit, did a 100 mile run and it never went over half. Then randomly it started going up and down all day for a while, then its been fine since. Last night I got it upto temp, then sat parked up holding it at 3k rpm for a while, temp went up the slightest bit as...
I thought that as it sounds like the same problem I had, Jay thought it did first too so he got a new box... Even with the new box its the same, thinking about it I think it has to be clutch spline/center related now...
Yeah, ive paid £20-30 for second handers before, bit of a saving over new. Ive seen one split in the middle too, thought it was raining then realised it was spraying out the front
May be cracked, one of mine did on the bottom..
Probably cheaper trying to get a second hander, think they are fairly pricey new! I think 172Ben still has the one he took off his car
The one on my car at the moment gets smaller at the inside end...
But I do have another N/S shaft that does not get as small... so I guess it could be either?
I used normal body paint on mine, mixed from Auto-Paint, who are luckily only down the road. The areas around the letters have bubbled a tiny bit due to heat, but I used etch primer under it and it seems to have lasted (18 months)...
Yeah, had it off the car and had the jetwash in both the inlet/outlet..
Radiator should easy be upto the job its the 172 one, and with no heater matrix there is less of the system there anyway. New radiators are pretty cheap, ive got a spare that I know is OK too anyway..
Il have to have a...
Right then, been a bit busy past few days but Ive checked it out a bit more...
Mark123 - Radiator gets hot all over as usual, so I don't think its blocked etc
S76Pilot - Correct, it heats up if you drive it hard, cools down when you slow down and cruise at low RPM (delay of a few minutes to...
They dont have anything like that, but I know what you mean from seeing them on fiestas. I have no heaters anyway, its just plumbed up as engine/rad :dapprove:
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Yeah, well im only putting an oil pressure gauge on for the time being - im not too bothered about temps as its been fine until now without a cooler, so with a cooler I dont think its ever going to get too hot..
Im just going to T-piece the pressure sender...
Sensor has two outputs, one goes to ECU and one goes directly to clocks, so that would point to the coolant temp sensor but ive swapped it... ECU does not provide the info for the clocks...
Headgasket was brand new around 10k ago, but it could have been a bad one and only just started having...
