Ahh, I see what you mean now.
If its just a black/white block with four wires coming out of it, you need to remove the barrel to change it. To get the barrel out of the column, you have to put your key in and turn it inbetween position 1 and position 2, until the small retaining lugs will push...
'rimsntyres' on eBay - 07818 655 153
Message him on ebay or ring him on that number. He will ask you for an 8 digit number from the back of the wheel starting with '01xxxxxx'..
There is a guy on eBay who will ask you the code from the back of the wheel which is the part number, he can find out the outer size of the spigot for you then.... you just need 60.1 inside size for a clio. He got some for my Superleggeras no problem
Mk2 are electric so its just a signal... the Mk1 is a spinning cable inside a cable, old school technology lol. They twist/change shape and produce wobble :(

Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Cheers for the comments..

Just pull it upwards really hard, it will come out... Then push the speedo cable in quite firmly... Should make your Mk1 dash work fine.
We run the 172 sensor (that you are about to take out) but thats only because its required for 172 clocks...
And yes, you did. Lol.
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Well at around 5pm today I will have owned the car exactly 2 years! I still remember picking it up and it taking hours to get home through rush hour. Its changed just a bit..
Its got some road tax left on it that I dont want to waste before winter...
Ph1s have a speedo sensor into the back of the box where the speedo cable on a Mk1 would usually go - so a Mechanical Sensor that converts it into an electrical signal for the ECU/Dash
