1.4 dynamic personally, + is the popluar made one as it has climate and alarm from memory.
The exteme is rare its just a dynamic with some stickers and different material colour. Dynamics and extreme were the sporty looking models.
Notorious had a 1.8 hybrid with 187 or so I think.
My old Williams had 104k second gearbox though one was replaced at 36k.
Theres at least three 1.2 owners on here with over 100k on them. 2 of them are Mk2 2 owners as well.
Try Halford etc you'd be looking at under £100 on exchange.
Even cheaper if you shop round I got one new for under £100.
Some places can rebuild them for £50~£100.
There juts like any Clio but there relaible it totally depends you find bad Bentleys and Porches.
The reliability would never put me off buying one.

New pads from Halfords the Ferrdo 845 or something like that ae fine with a fully bled braking setup with soem decinet brake fluid.
I never realy had trouble with that even on hard track use if you o want to upgrade DS2500's are the way but there expensive and will boil the expensive fluid dos...
I'm in Germany on hols (honest) at th moment so been driving a bit quick.

The best thing is to get some calieprs and caliper brackets from a 16v 1.8 or WIlliams or Mk2 phase 2 cLio and some bigger 259mm disks and some new pads the stock Mk1 none 1.8 16V or Williams use 239mm disks.
GO to Halfords there only there two sizes of brakes your stock ones arn't the ones the...
There just like the dci or 1.4 realy a bit more low end power not hugly noticable but nicer plus top end is better but again not huge.
I'd go for a 172 personally.
Coilover properly setup ie FK's then proper regular serving, decient ie expensive tyres and learn to drive it/track it.
