I'd go to Chipwizards every time no insult to GDI or the SMT or other tuners but his work does speak for itself plus I don't like other bits on the engine nothing wrong just not my preference.
The other one would be Hill power/Nick Hill as they know there engine and can now remap the stock ECU...
The pads proably don't fit very ell some manurfaturers one are a bit loose leading to them slopping about. Take the caliper off and check they've gone it right.
You can just get the stock ECU remapped so long as the cams arn't to mad.
If your going to stand alone ECU might as well get the throttle bodies as well.
Drop BenR a message the 1.6 engine is a miniture 172 engine I'm sure the manifold could be worked for good gains maybe not the same as...
I know its wear and tear but under the sale of good act surly the parts shouldn't fail prematurly and this early is IMO premature and a manurfacturing/design defect so covered.
Arr right town driving must be killing that worst I've ever got on road was 37 and I'm adveraging 55 so I thought something must be seriously driven all the time or different driving than I'm used to.
EVOgone I agree the dampers are different infact the 182 Cup damper was 10% or something like that more firm ok the Blistein 10% increased won't be the same but they'll last a lot longer.
PS have you paid up for Oulton on the 9th yet?
The rear shock for all Clios are the same size etc its damping rate which is different if you want to go fiddling you can get aftermarket ones from Blistein etc from Demon Tweeks I've got the cataogoloue at work (I think) I'll have a look tomorrow.
Infact Blistein do an OEM replacment for the...
Why would you want to do that? Best idea would be to make you hub spacing 54mm to fir the 172 hubs thats the easier way.
You'll need or be better off with uprated springs at the front to offset the 2.0 engine weight anway.
What do you define as handling? Any lowering will increase corning potential due to lower C of G and more camber, but thats not alwasy a good definaition of handling.
With a Cup your lucky as there no ABS just get any 15 inch alooy and it will fit any whel the circumference maybe different radius but its no problem realy. Any 14 inch wheel will fit the bacvk wheels so you'd just ahve to do what the CTR driver have to do and if you have a flat front put a back...
Ype no need to take the Box off depends how you put it in in some cases leaving it off maybe easier since you'll chnage the clutch anyway so a engine less box is lighter.
Don't need to take brake off to get driveshafts out but its easy plus 1.2 brakes won't bolt to 172 hubs and you need 172 hubs to get the 172 shafts to fit. You need the 172 shafst as 1.2 ones won't fit easily the JC5 (172/182) box.
Best way IMO is to drop the subframe, rad etc and suspension...
hubs should come with the bearing pressed in.
£20~40 each I'd say for hubs depends what youi have to do £10~20 each if you have to get dirty and remove them yourself.
Fornts are easy IMo get stock unless you'd had problems in the past if yu want any better decide how much better you are willing to accept then go to different calipers or Ds2500's and accept the weekness and stregths of them both.
Talk to Steve King he's the manager there he'll help you he's always a busy though or do a search the person who we deal with for discounted parts at Demon Tweeks he's very good.
I'd say the Williams and 182/172/Cup/trophy/ wouldn't be much different in real terms. However the Williams is getting on for 10 years old now rust age mailage taes it toal few people with mint WIlliams will get soem new tyre compounds on there cars and thrash them round the track even comparing...
47mpg out of a dci what engine do you have? I've the 65 model and only with none stop track days and everyday hammering I adverage at 47mpg over 6k
Tax for the dci used to be £80 then it went up to £85 now its down to £50.
40mpg is possible in a 172/182 depeds how you drive. I've not that much...
Someone at Demon tweeks has gone daft there very good usually (if a bit pricy) the Mk2 doesn't have a torsion bar just stick the new springs in and your off. The Mk1's had the torsion bar which was the cars springs the Mk2 have springs so new spring = lower height.
Matt used to work there he should know. I don't knwo what your on about he being wrong though I cannot see where he said its ever 6k etc.
12k serviving which is quite often IMO depends what your used to.
There tunning potential but its not cheap I knwo someone who spending a fortune on his, 350hp or so I'd guess when its finished but the costs would push a scoobie to probably 500hp and the scoobie etc would be more reliable. Mike T on here has a 440hp or so superchraged one but the cost is...
£2.4k isn't bad depends on so many things I got quoted
£2.4k at 21
£1.8k at 22
£1.4k at 23
ben_p on here pays £3k at 19 or somehting like that age wise.
You need to work out the costs but the money you'll lose probably won't be be near the fuel saving I'd recon you'd save about £500 per 10k milage so use that as a rough guide.
It depends how you drive though I drive very hard so 55mpg from a diesel and 29 or less from a petrol so my savings are...
Proper Xenons bulbs are expensive £70 a bargin price realy.
I don't know f you need to carry new xenons for the contine I've forgotten to carry spare in the past.
