What sort of car I take it your talking about a 172? If so (well regauardless) all you have to do is disconnect the sensor after the cat and tape the wires up. thats it if the sensors connected then the ECU will throw an error and so you get the light on the dash but you won't loose any power etc.

The ratios are often a bit shoter and a mid range so your top gear in a 4 speed is just between the 4th and 5th gear in a 5 speed box. A 5 speed box will get better acceletaion and mpg but its only small and you won't usually notice it.

If your taking about a dump valve then since the 172 engine isn't a turbocharged you don't need one and it won't work.

A sports cat manifold work along with a remap and an cold air induction kit are the best sort of mods for HP IMo after that cams are thenext thing. Tunning the engine isn't cheap though 200hp takes a lot of money.
