The engine can make well over 200hp N/A. 350 is about as far as youd want it realy and youll need almost a whole new engine bit for that.
The engine could make well over 200hp if Renault wanted.
Least your engine works parked on a hill.
The engine can be tracked back yrs but thats no reason whay its a poor engine.
Probably just bitter cos he drives a toy car.
You will loose a lot of money on the car and you might have a problem financing the 182 since you will have negitive equity if you swop finance deals since you have only paid probably £1k off your car and its work ~£3k less so you need you need a 182 + £2k finance deal which will be difficult...
Its dead easy to do.
Get the ink parts of BIC pens and stick one down each of the holes holding the stereo in about 2 inches (you need to push them past where you can feel the resistance)
Then either wiggle the head unit out or stick you hand up the back of the console and push it out.
The ecus are the same realy on all 172/182s
the mk1 had the manual throttle body the Mk2 had the electric one.
All 172/182 have the plip imobiliser on the key.
The problem is that many insurance companies dont chnarge much for engine transplants therefore he is insuring it the same as if it were a nomal car almost.
Try Liverpool Vctoria or Adrian Flux the only problme is that adrain flux use Highway (adrian flux are just a broker as far as Im aware) and there not very good at paying out big sums of money.
Apparently not the new Clio Sport will be just under 200hp (probably 192hp). It is likly to be an update of the 172/182 F4R engine as this is the cheapest way. Turbo power is out due to it not being as responsive also it would weight more a turbo engine.
it will be lighter and be a better drive.
Id look at a Mk2 personally as I prefere the looks
The Mk1 is lighter than the Mk2 though but it is the same sort of weight as the Cup but it has the toys.
Personally Id get coilovers for a Mk2.
Normally the exhaust is only covered for one year but it depends how and why the exhaust is leaking if its down to a manurfacturing defect they may cover it.
Dont worry at all my cars about the same as a 172 lowered 35mm and Ive hit big speed humps when I had the suspension fited at almost 30mph with no problems.
There was a replacment bumper for sale in the forum a week or so agao might be worth contacting them.
A new bumper is 77 01 473 708 BUMPER £116.75 ex vat
If its just the bumper being cracked then he will get away with just this so long as its resprayed. Not sure how much respraying will be...
I wouldnt worry about milage so long as its serviced, you might want to make note of possible costsly bit ie 72k service is expensive and you might need new dampers at say 80k also you might need a new clutch.
172 have seen over 100k no problems at all. The 172 engine is based on the 1.8 16V...
Soory thought i had some space will clean it all out now.
I dont understand how you knew though since I had one space left and recieved your message then a mod sent me a message taking my total to 41.
Anywayl file on its way.
Ps only topic ever for me this. (sad git I know)
There is apparently a Haynes manual for the 2001 + Clios but Ive never seen one with all my looking.
Ask Fred I think he said he has seen one.
Ive got a 1.2 16V guide Pm me your email address and Ill send it to you not sure what it includes but it will tell you about the filters etc...
If I had £9k for a car Id buy a Fabia VRS or Seab Ibiaza VRS.
For you though Id recomend a Focus TDCi (there good cars) or if you want somehting bigger a Mondeo diesel.
