What bits need replacing? You can sometimes get away with replacing the outer cover and superglue the rest up. (Just done this to parents Forester)
Definatly do look second hard or import if your doing big milages.
The 80 is slightly better mpg wise no idea why maybe better torque makes you drive differently or maybe the higer gearing helps.
Forget it it can be done but you need.

Some rewiring off the switch (maybe a new switch as well)

They dont do much for either service the 36k doesnt have any belt changes its the 72k when they change all the belts.
182 intake manifoled is worth a few hp. But modifying the 172 one will get better gains for less.
The exhuast one is only worth it if you are getting to the edge of normal tunning.
£9.5 I would think would be about the limt and Id try for £9k.
They have droped in price with 182 introduction quite significantly.
You can get a 182 for £11~12k dont forget.

Any decient dealership should its not like its an uncommon problem they could put down to the lowering.
Someone posted a guide a while back on how to do it yourself.
Well its current fuel flow you could calculate the current MPG but youd need a constant spped for a few seconds to stop the effects on enrichment and thendivide speed by fuel flow (dont forget to translate the pump flow into gallons ie divide by 4.5461 first).
Mine was ok for a few weeks then they fixed it and it was fine them I crashed it and I was back to rattling again then they fixed it and its rattling again now.
Cannot tell though as the bearings are going o they squeek like mad.
Is this the second version software Ive heard that SUperchip have anothe rmore recient map for more power and more revs?
Never seen your car at work though keep my eyes pealed though maybe one day.
Best way for power is to give it some revs on in in the first 20miles you need to do this to bed the rings oin so they make a good seal.
Dont nanny it else it will burn more oil and make less power.
The ecu apparently does know what gear your in and adjust the rev limiter (alos depends on coolent temp) this only applied to 172/182 not sure about Valver and Williams though.
I cannot work out how the ECU knows, none of the ECU inputs are from the Gearbox or carry a gearbox signal though.
She sound like she knows she was in the wrong but is trying to get out of it.
Get it to a garage and get a damage repair sheet and then get some pictures.
Then try and find a witness.

Ive read all the techie stuff and can safly say its confusing. To do it youd need a Renault PC to adjust the UCH and some wires (1 or 2 I cannot remember) from the switch to the UCH.
It is possible though.

Ive never heard of this he might be on about the fuel flow trick.
When your in diagnostics mods press the ADAC ie button on the and of the stalk and it cycles though the problems list and then shows a digital readout this is the fuel flow in liters from the pump.
The gains are minimal from chipping a standard engine in my view. There isnt much you can do to a N/A engine regards chipping to get more power.
You can go with a few options though first is a custom add on chip ie SMT6/7 which is made for your cars engine (each engine is unique) which is...
