I have just heard back from KTec and they agree I have the wrong spring and should have been given two. I’ve asked if they will send out another as I was only given one. But will put this on (should be better than the one I sourced) and then look at a throttle pedal return spring.
Going to take a look at the pedal spring return as well. The spring for my throttle body should arrive this week so that will be something to also try.
Ahh yes I remember this. Degreaser is degreaser is what I thought 🤷♂️ and the closest thing I could find in a petrol station on the side of the Belgium motorway haha.
Had some tinkering time today on the Clio.
First job was to re-do the fuel pipes going into the fuel rail.
Before - the fuel rail came with a straight and a 90deg banjo fitting so this was like the best solution I could come up with for the first iteration.
After - got another straight fitting...
Now I can use the car as it has been mapped I am just going through a snag list before I can use it.
It was noticed when mapping that the throttle sticks ever so slightly. Does this if gently opening the throttle and then gently lifting off. Does this with the throttle pedal or manually moving...
I was shocked tbh, was not expecting it to be that high!
Don’t worry, give it 18months when the cam belt is due (last changed in summer 2020) a set of 423’s will be going in.
Will start doing them this week. Will see if re-routing the throttle cable will help as a start as I don’t really fancy taking the bodies apart to fit a spring! Track day will be great to shake down. Will try and get a noise test first to see if I can get away with how loud it is before...
For those with a Ph1 running a Gen90 it is likely to come with a base map for a Ph2.
As I found out today it will think it is at full throttle at all times and will need the pin coding in the ECU to correct this. My spark plugs were ruined and need some new ones beucase it was over fueling like...
Today couldn't have gone any better! All mapped up and it now runs! I am so pleased
Started the day loading it up onto @VenomUK truck an headed for some fuel
Got to EFI, had a quick chat with Chris and said what the issues I was having to get it running. Turns out the ECU thought the...
Final once over ready for mapping at EFI tomorrow. All looks ok. No leaks from the fuel system. Starts at the turn of the key, if the battery has any juice in. Battery on charge. Still can’t find the drain - but when I reconnected it just now the fuel pump started without the key in the...
Good shout. Bit tricky at the moment where the car is parked, might see if my jump leads will reach over as the battery is on the wrong side with no room next to it, typical.
I hope the battery on mine isn’t on the way out as is brand new! I thought I had a battery drain on it as it went flat in three days last week. Ive tried to diagnose it yesterday but couldn’t (will double check tomorrow) and then it wasn’t giving bad readings on the multi meter suggesting that...
Front bumper is now fitted after I painted it
I don’t think it’s too bad for a rattle can job done by me. I still need to polish and wax it but it was raining. Looks soooo much better now. The whole car will still need a respray though.
Need to sort out the arch liner situation. I’m tempted to...
I had a feeling that it could be battery related but with electrical stuff I never know. The last time it was doing something similar the battery was properly ruined and had no charge. I should try and sort out a trickle charger for it really.
Just in case anyone stumbled across this in the future with a similar problem….I charged the battery last night and put it on. All seemed to be working normal. Started the car all fine and left it after and all was still fine. I foolishly didn’t measure the voltage of the battery before I put it...
Put the battery back on just now and it was all normal, no flashing lights. Car started fine. All happy....until about a minuite later there was a relay going crazy in the engine bay then that stopped after about 30 seconds. Couldn't remote lock the car. Looked at the dash and the immobiliser...
Went to lock the Clio this afternoon after working on it and it wouldn’t lock. The light on the fob was going when pressed. Looked inside and the immobiliser light was going mad and so was the oil pressure light. Opened the door and you can hear a relay in time with the oil pressure light...
Yeah it is a bit odd, like I was expecting it to be a constant reading not all over the place on all ur cylinders. I’ve messaged EFI to see if they know what could be the cause. Also asked about availability so I can see when you are free. In my mind it has to be the base map in the ECU as...
I’ve rechecked the TPS wiring and happy that is all correct. Checked for continuity between the signal wire and ECU plug. And then saw the voltage drop in the signal wire when the throttle is operated. I also with the advise from barnesautos to remove the TPS, start the car and manual move the...
I think it is fueling perfectly.....
Haha. No wonder it is running rough af, it is like this over all 4 bodies. And giving it a bit of throttle it sounds smoother but isn't on the gauge. Bit annoying as I wanted to get it warm but I can't get it to idle properly. It idles too low (no more...
Checked the TPS wiring as per @barnesautos instructions and happy that is was the right way round.
I managed to get it to idle without holding on the throttle. It is still far too low at 750rpm and wants to stall and is a bit lumpy. It still has a slight miss when revving too and smokes a lot...
Tha gas the plan, work out where pin 43 goes. I presume when you say activate the throttle to test the signal that is just measure the voltage over the wire in pin 43 when I press the throttle pedal and it should read something? Electronics are not my forte!
Hoping to finish work a bit earlier...
And this is the only marking I can see on the TPS (might be one in the other side but I’ll remove it when I get a chance to look at this later in the week)
I’ve just checked what I was sent and it agrees with the Red to Orange but it says black to begin then green to white
I’ve done as per the instructions I was sent as tbh that was all the info I was given!! And the fact that the TPS I was sent would fit directly onto a Ph2 loom.
Have I been...
Amazing info thanks. I’ll try and get around to looking at this one evening this week or weekend.
I did look and according to the KTec website it is a P&G TPS as you suggested, although I forgot to look at the sensor itself.
A massive shout out to @barnesautos for his time and help today. He knew exactly why the fuel pump was not running - my instructions from KTec were incomplete. I needed to move another pin on the ECU. So now I don't have a dodgey wire running from the battery to the fuel pump lol.
Had it...
