    Kit's Ph1 172

Just totalled up what I have spent this winter on the car....it is more than what I paid for the car :tongueclosed: It will be so worth it in the end!

    Oil breather thingy maybe ???

I now run an induction kit and the ICV has a small breather filter on it. If you have found where it should be on yours then good stuff. If it fell off you may want to consider either replacing the pipe if it has warn and become too large and loose or use a jubilee clip on in to hold it in place.

Leaving your Clio sat unused for long periods of time

My car has been stood since September and not been used. I have a cover on it to try to keep the worst of the rain off to stop potential leaking. I also use thoise moisture traps inside it. Car is also started and left for about 20/30mins on tick over every week when I go home. Still sounds...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Thanks! I know nothing has been taxing so far, but I have been out of practice of car maintanence since I left home a few years back. Tell me about it! I have been lucky to buy things when I can afford/find them and keep them until I need them. The new engine on the other hand may be a...

Managed to get some stuff doen over the Christmas break, not as much as I wanted due to not buying the right rivets! First was the goodies I got...new wiper blades and some rubber mats for the front Also fitted Citroen C3 mist washer jets. THis is now how they look...yes a brilliant picture I...

    Hubcentric spacer advice

I do have them, they are currently on my car. However I haven't "used" them yet as the car has hardly moved 2 feet since September but it will be back on the road this month. They do look the part. My brother was impressed with them and he has had spacers and built his own track car before so...

    Bonnet removal

Wasn't sure if you still had it for sale, worth the try!

    Bonnet removal

I have glued it to one hinge as the bolt snapped off in the bonnet I could drill out....that isn't being removed!! I managed to remove the hinges, and then nipped up the bolts for alignment and testing then went to tighten it and one went pop. Rule 1 - use a torque wrench! Someone was breaking...

Fitting window switches to door cards - ideas

Thanks @green that is exactly what I wanted to see. This and MarkX's picture have helped. I will go buy a dremel and do this! Unfortunately it won't be until the new year as the car is at my dads and I only go there at weekends. I really need to get a house with a drive way.

Fitting window switches to door cards - ideas

@green do you have a picture of this? As if you say this will work then I would rather this than extend the loom. Do you mean clip in using the little tabs on the switches? @MarkX your door cards look nice, good little custom job there. And does anyone know the rule with window switches, as...

Fitting window switches to door cards - ideas

Just had a look at the loom....looks very simple when I can work out how to remove the bundle of wires in that rubber housing between the car and the door. Looks like there is a connection block screwed in in the car but I am not sure.

Fitting window switches to door cards - ideas

I have decided I am doing this! Making some extension cables from the existing switches and then feed back through the door and under the dash. I don't want to start splicing/butchering the loom as currently the car can go back to standard (with a hell of a lot of work!) as nothing has been...

Hazard light switch - swapping it

Yeah, I was thinking that but I don't like the way the original button sticks out and not flush. So wanted a simple circular push switch (already seen the one I want) as it is easy to drill the hole out of the blank! I just need to source a working diagram for the existing switch so I can get...

What have you done to your car today ???

That does look smart. I have started with the passenger door and the rivets I have aren't long enough in places! Damn double skin doors with varying thickness of material. But it is in place, I just need to source some longer rivets and finish it. I know what you mean about a long winded job, I...

Fitting window switches to door cards - ideas

I would really like then where the radio is on new paddle rocker switches, but there are so many pins on the back of the existing switches not sure it will be possible.

Fitting window switches to door cards - ideas

Currently making some lightweight door cards out of thin black plastic. I know what I want to do with the door handles. But the electric window and mirror adjustment switches are confusing me. What have people done so I can get some ideas? Tempted to not make holes for the window switches which...

What have you done to your car today ???

Fitted some rubber mats to the front foot wells Started to make some door cards, but it is quite tricky! Need at least three pairs of hands to hold, mark and drill/rivet. Have plenty of material and got one side made up I am going to try first before making the other door, but still have loads...

    Drilling footwells

Hadn't thought of this. Personally don't like the idea but I can see it will work. Just wanted something a bit harder wearing. I would have kept the original mats but they were fubar, and stank and I had the blocked scuttle drain problem! It's all done now, they are in and not moving!

    Drilling footwells

I have and couldn't see anything, was just wondering if there was anything hidden.

    Drilling footwells

I wasn't concerned about making it weaker, just concerned if I would hit something like a fuel line! It's a small French hatch back probably made of rust, surely not the safest of cars in a crash without holes in the floor.

    Drilling footwells

Yep. Was given some mats for Christmas I want to use. I may go with the Velcro idea if riveting isn't advised.

    Drilling footwells

I've got no carpets and did have the original mats too, but they kept moving about (plus they were knakard and needed changing). Now that I've painted the insides it's just a bit slick under foot so got some plain black rubber mats to help with grip.

    Drilling footwells

Any reason for this? Is this to stop water getting in? Did the same to an old track car and it worked fine....although that was trailered around and not driven anywhere and stored in a garage.

    Drilling footwells

Got some rubber mats to go in the front of the car, I want to rivet them down to stop them moving around. I can't see anything that I will hit if I drill the foot well, but just want to clarify before I go all hero with the drill and knock the fuel/brake line or something out!!

    Kit's Ph1 172

Its the second refurb in about 6 months, although I dont think I polished them enough the first time. When I made them black you could see it so I thought it best to redo them YEah the spacers are perfect! Got some rears I need to fit at some point, just didn't get around to it this weekend.

    Kit's Ph1 172

Little bit more progress this weekend. Re-refurbed the lights. MUUUUCH better!!! Painted the badges black. Now there isn't any chrome or blue trim left. 14 years of grime!! Just need to wait for them to dry and put them back on the car. Looks a lot smarter I think. Front wheel...

What have you done to your car today ???

Snapped a bolt removing the bonnet. Snapped a bolt putting the ally one on. Snapped and melted several drill bits trying to drill it out. Ended up using three bolts and some metal epoxy adhesive. Bonnet is never being removed again. Proper bodge job. The rain can also do one as I need to...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Thanks, it's slowly getting there! Yeah, the bonnet is ridiculous! I was really shocked, glad I have got one now. Well the flocked parts were a bit of a mission....three deliveries sent out for one order and one went missing. Annoyingly it's a good product, just the delivery service was gash.

    Kit's Ph1 172

Few things have turned up to be fitted - PMS RARB. This will be done in the new year when I buy solid top mounts and for the BC coil overs. Ally bonnet + spray mist washer jets. This is this weekend's job. Didn't realise how light the bonnet is! I nearly fell over as I put too much effort into...
