I've resorted to turning mine off in the wet now when I know I will have to give it some to get in a gap at the junctions.....
It would be interesting to hear what others are like or what they're like from out side the car.
Well it is true:D I got mine done just the other week. Based in Huddersfield so not to far and he is a cambelt specialist too. With new spark plugs, oil and everything for the 5 year service you will be looking at about £400 all in (as Dan says).
PM me if interested.
Had mine off for ages now. I still managed to get 45mpg on a very boring 90 mile motorway run and my normal running about seems to be the same as it was with it.
Can't notice any difference in performance whats so ever.

Pull the lid off the steering column (no screws) and check the connection behind that. That's what caused the airbag and service light on mine a while ago.
They might go down a bit by December but not much imo. You have to decide if its worth paying that little extra to have it now and start enjoying it or wait a few months to save a few hundred at most.
You could end up waiting for ever with that way of thought because if you wait from December...
The clutch in my 172 is nothing compared to the one in my old 306, now that was stiff.
Only thing that had me stalling when I got it was the crazily high bite point.
