i'd be surprised if the boot had split, it's very common for the clip to break and the boot pop off. A good quality clip is necessary though, no cable ties!!!
the numbers on the cams are not duration. There's a few different part numbers of cams fitted thorugh the years, (minor differences to look at) but all the same essentially
ph1 had CNC'd inlet ports and large exhaust ports, ph2 172 and 182 had smaller squarer exhaust ports and more CNC'd...
Think it's an australian company doing these. Not a simple job, head has to come off and be re-worked to match the much larger ports of the 197 manifold. Think i'd only bother if you had a 197 head to fit, but even then you'll lose the fully variable inlet cam timing which is one of the nicer...
better fron ARB makes a huge difference I'm told. Needs to though, last viggen i drove was a torque steery, under-steery handful. Great cars never-the-less though. I've been looking at 9000 carlsons recently, so much car for the money.
buy a decent fitting kit, not the cheapest one you can find, the gaskets last far less than good ones, and they're a b**ch to get to.
Bolting it up solid will just mean it comes loose due to engine moving back and forth
depends on the wheelbase of the car, and the original position of the seat. The shorter the wheelbase, the more difference small changes in moving weight forward make. When i used to do RWYB regularly in my 200sx, i always got best launches with half a tank of fuel, rather than running low to...
could be your glow plugs need replacing. worth removing and cleaning out the EGR valve and boot pipes too. Last pipe i took off was clogged up to less than the size of my thumb internal bore, and the EGR valves get very dirty if the engine is never pushed and just pottered about for maximum mpg.
the seal that goes on the inlet cams, looks like it's not sealing anything when you fit it, there would be a gap of about 4-5mm all the way round the cam.
i've tried to fit one before, (didn't come from them) it's a less complete kit than a genuine one, and doesn't include the part that seizes. Also the belt is a LOT thicker and too short
