should do ok with 421s. wont do 240 though!!!. think the high comp engine we mapped (didn't build it) with 421s did 221bhp, cams were holding it back IMO.
you wont do top power if you stick under 7500. depening on cams you'll likely find the power is still rising at the limiter if you do that. Uploading a graph now....
they're ALL made in the same factory i recon. there's no difference between any of them at all. They're always all perfectly weight matched and end/end balanced which is better than oe ;)
I wouldn't bother personally, most places that offer it as a service dont know how to do it to give a real gain. A straight cut edge wont really help that much, you need a profiled shape.
A full close tollerence balance will give the biggst gains (and really makes a difference to the F4R)
as already said, the only thing you've listed that you wont need to do anyway is the aux belt (which is pretty easy on a 1.2 8v), and you'll want to do that on the new engine anyway, along with the cambelt
The 1.8 8v is a cracking engine, i'd happily own most renaults that came with it. I want...
Fairly likely to be the TB, but worth plugging in to diagnostics as these engines can be plagued with faults if you get a bad one. Seen 11 fault codes come up, 8 of which fixed by a new upper loom, and even then it needed all new gaskets on the rocker cover and inlet manifold (big vac leak)...
customer was very happy. Not overly loud on idle and sounded nice going up the road. I dislike having to cut the standard system behind the cat though, but that's the same for all cat back systems on the 197
