rings are available from plenty of places, Perfect circle, Federal Mogul, Gotze. A decent engine reconditioner/machinist should be able to sort you out
pad moving in the caliper? doesn't take much for a bit of a twang to happen, strip down, clean and re-grease in the right places and with or without appropriate shims. Can't remember which pads you have but IIRC valver uses same pads as 1.9 205 gti, in which case I found Autodelta blue sintered...
skoda needs to increase lowness to achieve maximum points. I love it though, good attention to detail and plenty of bits on there that the un-educated wont spot. Sweet ride
doesn't need to be anything special but avoid non-setting pastes like hylomar/hermetite red and blue. Remember to use a torque wrench on the bolts when re-fitting, 12Nm.
Halfords normally stock Ferodo which are pretty damn good for the price TBH.
Had problems with calipers seizing up on cars that have been laid up a while so Caliper strip and clean would be high on my to do list. sounds like they could be sticky calipers by the smoke and chunks of pad bit in...
wouldn't personally. Have you listened to that system yet? the first silencer is quite small so will only be to take the harshness off the sound, you wont gain anything but a worse noise TBH
exact socket I have and have had for about 8 years.
if the plug is really rounded off there's ways to get round it, but pretty brutal. try the right tool first as i dont want to give the brutal method until you've tried the right tool :)
same engine with a turbo strapped on lol. I think if you did it right it would be rockin'. 1 litre engines were making 100bhp on turbos nearly 20 years ago, a 1.2 16v should be able to achieve 150 usable bhp if you do it right (lots more with enough time, money and development)
To be fair, we like to advise on a cambelt between 50-60k, although we do also state renaults recommended intervals. Our Laguna (k4m) had a snapped belt at 58k (bought damaged). Sounds like this may have been over stated to your friend though if she's scared to drive it :(
dont lift off mid corner then. It's the wrong way to drive and a stiff light car will always slide the back end out if you lift off mid corner. It's called liftoff oversteer. Some less raw cars are more forgiving which propogates the bad practice and most drivers of normal cars are totally...
