I would imagine so mate yeah.

    Clio 182 Turbo

I had one in that had done the exact same thing just before Christmas funnily enough. I’d need to see the selector forks ideally mate before I can commit, but the upper half of the casing could be of use 👍🏻

    Clio 182 Turbo

See the bit highlighted green? That’s where the mainshaft pinion bearing used to live. This is one of the most common failure point I see on them alongside selector forks and synchro rings.

    JR5 versus JB3

Well the gripper has to be the diff of choice then. Those RSX things are pure shite

    JR5 versus JB3

    I don’t think there’s a diff available for the jr5 box mate

No mate I don’t think it will

No mate it’s not possible. Totally different gearbox setups I’m afraid.

    Polycarbonate windows

I used the thermoformed set from plastics 4 performance in my track cup. They had the black border around the edge - as per oem and were also in the correct shade of green, so they looked like factory glass pretty much. Quality was 100%. I think a lot of companies that make the windows now...

    Billet jc5 selector forks.

They’re a better chassis though mate. Having owned a mk2 and a mk3, I know this to be true. Forks? Yes 100%. As for batch costs, I’m not sure. Depends on materials etc.

    Billet jc5 selector forks.

I just don’t think the mk2 clio is that popular anymore mate. Most people have moved on to the mk3 now

    Billet jc5 selector forks.

They’re not as horrific as you think tbf. A lot of the problems come from people changing gear with zero sympathy, and also using s**t/wrong grade of oil. I’ve been around them now long enough to know their weaknesses better than most. I could probably re-engineer the synchro rings to work...

    Billet jc5 selector forks.

Hi mate, No need to apologise for the tag 👍🏻 So as it currently stands, I haven’t seen them again for the last time, but I’ll be seeing them in the coming weeks. From what I’ve seen over the months, the selector fork for 3rd/4th gear was showing signs of wear. Since then I’ve spoken with one...

    JC 130 chipped 5th gear

It’ll be fine. The chip will have occurred when the gear was removed off the shaft. 👍🏻

2010 Clio RS Gordini gearbox isdue

Technically, that’s not correct as the ratios in the 200 box aren’t the same as the 197. The early 197 had the TL4 003, which was a closer ratio box. They changed the ratios in the TL4 024 box and improved the cruising rpm. When they did the 200, they changed the ratios again slightly - which...

    JC5 with gripper oil viscosity

I recommend mt90 for track work purely because the higher viscosity oil also has a higher operating temperature. You’d be fine with mtl I imagine, but if you’re hammering it, just change it more frequently.

182 Gearbox questions (leaks and slop)

Right, so the oil leak from the selector is a very common issue mate. They all do it! And to replace the seal means you have to strip the box to do it. Pain in the arse, but I replace the seals on every box I rebuild. To tighten the feel up, you can replace bushes in the lower part of the...

    Gear box problem

I mean it could be swelling yeah. But the majority of those seals I’ve seen just never work right. Full stop.
  28. NorthloopCup

    Gear box problem

It’s the seal that’s too thick mate. Stops the gear lever going to the correct position.

Turbo 182, where to go next?

It is 100% the low down torque that’s doing the damage mate. I had one in a few months back that had decided to call time on life. I asked if it went bang when it was at low down rpm and he was using the torque - yes was the answer. No teeth left on 5th gear was the end result and a box full of...
