That looks very similar to what the Vauxhall xe's used to do and pass oil from the breather into the inlet mate. Then it was burnt off through the combustion cycle creating the batman esque smoke screen.
Yeah I reckon you'll get not much more than an extra 6-8mm, so et49/et47. From an ex Vauxhall owner, I feel your pain trying to find rims in those offsets!
Oh I see what you're saying now! The piston is slightly lower on the west side (aiiiiiiiiii) in relation to the bore. I'm afraid you need to find the cause and rectify the problem mate. The thrust loading will be all wrong and it'll wear the bore out.
Have you tried the piston on other rods?
That's the issue mate. I'd near enough bet a months wages on it. Sounds like the shaft is bottoming out in the joint to me.
When it's jacked up, undo the bottom ball joint bolts and remove them. If it spins free - there's your problem.
