    V6 - everyday practical car

Is the V6 a practical proposition when it comes to weekends away, shopping etc? How much luggage / shopping can you really squeeze in, assuming you also have a passenger?

My car has been flooded :-(

Good luck with it mate - at least were forecast a couple of dry days over the weekend. I did the same a few years ago with an alfa. It was all a bit of an arse but once Id got everything clean and replaced the bits that fell apart it was a lot better than it had been before the flood!

    What’s behind the arch-liner (172)

mine are bowing outwards and catching the tyre on full lock. Front arches, the rearmost bit by the sill. Looks like theyve deformed for some reason.

    Guess the bill game

LMAO yeah they probably did! Castrol RS is fully synth (0W-40?), not really due an oil change (31000 miles) but have mega-trackday at Spa next month so thought Id better sort out oil, brakes etc.

    What’s behind the arch-liner (172)

My arch liners need some additional fixings to keep them in place. I was thinking of popping a couple of self-tapping screws through them to hold them to the bodywork. Whats behind the liners? Is it steel or plastic?

    Guess the bill game

Result! Wasnt a wheel-bearing, just part of the arch-liner rubing the wheel. So £116 all-in! :D

jacking points for a trolley jack

The sill is still the best place - there are lots of delicate bits further under the car.
  24. telford_mike

jacking points for a trolley jack

Using a trolley jack under the sill may deform the seam that runs along the underside of the sill a little. This is not a problem.

What are the NEW clios like

Hi, welcome to Cliosport. 1.6 16v will go to about 140bhp apparently. Insurance is pretty cheap.

swapping front tyres for back - why not

Yup, depends on the track I guess. I like to play about with the car if the track is suitable, and I dont mind taking a few risks. I would never do anything like that at the Nurburgring! With smooth cornering theyd last a lot longer, but I like to explore the limits if its safe to do so. Tyres...

    182 - 98 Ron recommended

Tescos generally do it for 77 or 78p, but if you shop at Tesco you get vouchers when you pay - very often its 5p off a litre at their filling station.
