geoff b - i drove a type R and was dissapointed, especially after all the hype about how much in another league they were to my car. Had to rev it above 6k to get it moving and 4-up it felt slower and more numb than my car 4-up. I felt like i was sitting on the car rather than in. I know the...
well this is how its been. I recently got a set of 4 goodyear eagle F1s and this cost me £190 fitted/balanced and included a towing adjustment. When they first put them on the car felt VERY boaty and not how it used to drive with the old michelins on, but now they seem ok. The grip around...
Oh no dude. Had exactly the same thing happen to me near Bramshott Common, i was going down the hill towards the Trout Ponds/Hammer and was driving slowly as there was car fast car coming up the hill. I pulled over and stopped to allow slow speed to pass each other, and she maintained the same...
and now for the annoying question - does anyone know how much a set of ebc green bogie front pads part number z3234987234079823471097hjfli28h for a 172 is? Cheers in advance! ;)
Cool, i may buy a set. The renault tech bloke said the rears were only good for another 3000 miles. Its the second set of front pads im onto after 28,000 miles...
Ben - do you really know him or are you pulling my (third) leg?
Do they leave green brake dust on your allys? i dont want my wheels looking like theyve gone mouldy!!
oh no - i hope this isnt the case with mine. Knowing my luck it probably will be :(...... I do feel like its going to be costing me a lot of ££££££. If the "warranty" wont cover these non-perishable items, im going to ask for a refund of the warranty i bought from Renault! so there!
i heard it from some dude called Julian Philips - a "race director"(?) who works for Aurok. I met him as he was wokring in some shed in the middle of knowhere preparing a Clio Cup car for racing and aslo some MGFs and a MGB gt race car. (he got me that Group N ecu) Dont spose youve heard of...
how many would you like ben? ill need a down payment, or just sexual favours first please ;)
Ive heard theyre pretty good- but you have to bed them in aggressively, really stompin on the pedal to get the best results??
thats SMC in Peasmarsch or however you say it! theyve been pretty ok up to now, but lets hope it wont cost me anything. I think the guys just telling me the worst case scenario. He didnt even think it had a warranty - i only bought it like a month before from the guy on the desk behind him...
why isnt it covered by warranty!!!? are you supposed to have travelled at light speed and it shifted due to that? Warranty are good upto a point but its when we get to these items that i begin to have my doubts......concerning, especially over just a badge! maybe try a different garage? or...
Hi cord-172: A few weird things including cutting out when i was crossing a dual carriage way and then stalling on the other side - i could smell strong CAT smell (not animal) and then it started fine. Lately (but not at the mo and therefore to the disapointment of the renault garage!) the revs...
Yeah i got the same thing. Mines done 28k miles same as yours pretty much and doing all sorts of weird things. Probably because its been thrashed so much. Ive had my idle control sensor replaced twice under warranty...... maybe its that?
probably. I was hoping that when things were replaced under warranty that theyd be covered by one years renault warrany from when they were fit. It seems people with warrantys are being penalised for having warranties!!!!!
you might want to get it checked that youve got a 3 year warranty and show them the documents that say you have etc.
All this aside. Its so dissapointing how all these NEW cars are having so many problems. I really cant believe it. Just reading dannyboys post, his cup is probably only...
Now seeing as Renault are bound to charge me something huge for the cost of ordering and buying new pads, does anyone recommend where and what pads i should get?
Should i just buy some Renault boat pads? or go for something a little more snake oil-esque like EBC green bogies? Do anywhere do...
oh my god! some people should be not allowed to do business, talk about the Robin Hood syndrome.
Thanks for the advise GR, if it goes sour, ill use your tactics without doubt!
Get a mini and shove in a 1.6 vtec engine inside it. There was one in CCC a while back and it was very fast. 160 bhp in something that doesnt weigh much, or better still put in the 1.8 vtec out of the ITR and youre laughing. I think the conversion costs something like £4000? may be wrong tho...
yep mine does this - sometimes when its cold too. Once it was going up and down higher than 2k rpm, almost like cruise control when driving. Also when i revved the engine the revs descended really slowly. Strange sensation. booked it in and it didnt do it! gol dang it, so i guess ill have to...
Hi folks, thanks for the response.
I bought the warranty from none other than fantastic Renault! I asked them to just extend my current 1 years warranty to an extra 24 months. All was fine, big cheque handed over, smiles all round!
My gearbox was replaced under warranty around August time...
After leaving my car with renault today to fix: gearbox, front passenger seat, engine mount, suspension creaks, clutch judder, engine idling/cutting out etc.
Anyway, went there and they hadnt fixed anything because they didnt think it had a warranty! - i bought an extended warranty a while...
hi. Sorry for the late reply! only just seen this. Yeah as VR6MAN says its the engine mount below the battery. Mines in today -hopefully- getting that fixed (again) but when i took it to SMC Woking they seemed to know all about them - common problem with 172s. Woking were the garage that...
