Very nice, my dad is getting his new golf gti pdi x2189 or whatever theyre called 150 bhp 236 lb/ft diesel next week! im getting insurance so ill give a review after ive toast i mean tested it ;)
Hi tim - Im sure youve been asked this many times, but: what mods were you running in your mk.1? and how many things started to go wrong and at what mileage!!? thanks in advance, si
Another 27 miles to and from uni. Then before i left for home got some optiglen and did a couple of laps on the hunt - slayed a Polo hahaha, oh and a Zetec-S fiesta for amusement - cripple-hook and everything, pure comedy.
I kerbed my alloy quite badly and it went ccccrrrrrunch into a tight space in a car park, i was in a rush and had to squeeze - it was a dilemma from either reversing off the kerb crrrrrrunch or keep going gggggrrrraaaaaunch, i just went for the cccrunch and it looks awful, in fact im going to...
a few of them are decent and say reasonable comments, but theres another few who are like "ctr would p!$$ on a 172 like it was standing still" me thinks theyve been racing dynamics (no offence intended)
"And the race I had with the clio cup started with me behind him at the lights. I overtook him in 2nd gear once the lights went green.
Is this worth the waste of my petrol?? But clio owners just dont accept the Civic Powe-r.
Do you fair against WRXs as well mate?? The CTR is quicker then a...
I know its expensive and some of them are monkeys, but its worth getting work done at renault garage, as all the parts and labour is guaranteed for one years warranty.....
master chief - do you have a standard airbox? i found that my car was VERY unwilling when i took the pipes off and connected them to the wrong holes thus squeezing them and fouling the air flow!
I managed !45 or about 6500 rpm on a straight, didnt take that long really. That was with my gp n...
cool glad it got sorted - for now - anyway. Im thinking mines on its way back, but thats during violent gear changes tho. Yeah - mike you might wanna get that looked at. Appareantly its a well -known 172 problem!?
Hi will. Sorry to hear about your poor g/f! hope shes feeling better. Glad ya got the cars sorted so swiftly! are ya gonna let me know who this guy is!? he seems like a decent/genuine garage mechanic. Dont spose its dan in passfield?
si
wow - very nice indeed! lucky bugger! whats the insurance like? how much did you pay? is it modded?
Give us some stats dude! I like it very much btw. (can you tell?)
Hi, welcome to the forum. Did you stopwatch your times before you got the work done? sounds like its done some good. Are you going to get TBs next? do LAD offer this also? what about cams? is it worth it?
I dont have one. Mines a Y-reg 2001 May model. I asked my dealer the day after i bought it and he says he knew nothing about it however he gave me an Autocar review about how the 172 is the best since the 205 gti etc etc, and it says in there about the gear change light.
I think i asked in...
hehe thats what i like to hear. I was pondering getting the Orbisound jobby like off the cup racers. I know a guy who can get me one. The exhaust manifold costs about £900 or something!!? but apparently theyre standard on 172s!? dont break that part then outside your warranty, ouch!
i know what you mean about ragging it when its cold. I had to do this the other when i came across that ctr! i was apologising to my car tho....
Usually dont go over 4k when its cold (like the M5s) and when the guage is at normal it gets booted, but usually cuts in at 6800 rpm for ages, pain...
Cool Si, your 172s really coming along nicely now! What kinda chip did you opt for in the end?
Im wondering about the weight u give for the mk.1 172 - i know it was done on a weigh bridge by some of you guys, but, wasnt that with a full tank of go go juice? that weighs about 1kg per litre, so...
Twas tonight; hairpin slip road onto Air3strip 2nd gear upwards, he wasnt getting away, i massively screwed up my 3rd gear change and still kept up easily. Wish id got it on cam. They certainly do look nice tho. Dont think he was thrilled that id stayed with him, i flashed my lowers a few...
Thats a good idea. Dont you hate it when they blast there siren and put their blue lights on when they want to get past you and youve got nowhere to go!! I had this a few months back and this Mundano Police car was up my arse, the only way out of his way was to boot it forwards, haha, i toasted...
sheesh - talk about a load of hassle for what 5 seconds of 66 mph and everyone else was doing that speed anyway! surely there are car thieves, rapists nad kiddy fiddlers that need finding??
