Good tip. I remember back in the day the Sonus Der Wunder drying towels were highly recommended. They're not a patch on the efficiency of softness of a fluffy microfibre drying towel!
I'd imagine most specific wheel waxes are more like a sealant so a chemical wax as opposed to a lot of the carnauba based ones you put on the bodywork.
To be honest though as much as I like CG's Wheel Guard, I can imagine a sealant type wax like Collinite or Finishkare will do just as good a job.
Collinite 845 is up there as one of my favourites. Cheap, easy to use and lasts for ages on the car.
There's loads of products I like though so I wouldn't say that's definitive haha
It's a lot easier if you have more than one drying towel I find.
I tend to have two blue fluffy towels for the bodywork, which seem to be just enough to dry it gently enough. Then use a Meguiars Water Magnet on the glass as they aren't all that for the paintwork as they are too harsh after a...
Everyone says that haha.
She's cost me a total of £1,700 to get into it's current state but she's got to be worth £2k or a little more now. Thing is I'm loving driving her, not only are these cars surprisingly quick and fun, it's worry free motoring!! I don't worry about this car like I do my...
Well thought I'd start myself a project thread for fairly recently acquired 2003 Clio 172 as I have some plans lined up for it.
The background is that a good friend of mine bought the car last year for around £3k. It had 50k on a the clock and a full service history, was in mint condition and...
Ignore the sign post, bit tricky as it's there not on the path they've placed it there and therefore the space is too small.
I don't doubt that in terms of width there is space for a car but due to the posts they've put around the crossing and also a sign post of the car park 'rules' you...
Sorry to quote the picture again but are you saying that between the white line shown under the Clio and the sign post there's a reasonable sized parking space???? When you can clearly see how big the Clio as a scale of reference? If a car was parked normally in the bay on the left and someone...
Because there is a sign post for a crossing in the hatched area therefore making it too small to be a parking space. I assume they are all measured out at the same width and with that sign post it would be far narrower.
I assume that's to the OP but really who's it harming by parking on a hatched area (shown in the picture) that's not preventing someone else parking. If anything it's giving them more room to the left of that space?
Don't get me wrong in a car park where spaces are at a minimum it's pretty...
The 133 is the first car I've owned with darker than normal tints on the rear windows. Looks quite smart and also feels kinda cool inside as it seems to be that bit more private and shaded in a funny way.
Most car enthusiasts who take pride in there cars do this mate. Just got a few righteous types on here haha.
Personally I look for spaces tucked away that people aren't likely to park by. For example by a wall so you can get the passenger side right up close or by a hatched area so you can park...
Just saw that comment and made me laugh. Why would you not consider one as a daily? Nothing happens in your brain between the age of 21 and 30 that makes you go, 'I need a sensible diesel estate car'!! haha
I had my 172 when I was 21 and it was a superb all rounder, great as young lads car. I...
What you not happy about chap?
I've been reading this thread and doing some reading up on this stuff. Trying to consider whether it's worth getting a few cans to spray my wheels rather than spending out on a refurb.
That said though I think a lot of detailers anticipate a degree of marring when they use a clay. I recall Chemical Guys being asked why their clay block causes light marring and they were well aware of it and advised that a very light polish would remove it.
That said a lot of people totally...
£800 for a 2003 with 56k on the clock, all belts done. Only thing wrong with it was a bit of bodywork, that cost me £600 so all in £1,400 for a mint low mileage 172 which doesn't require any major servicing.
These cars are a total bargain now days.
I got in my 172 this morning, only for a short drive down to the train station but I have to admit I do genuinely look forward to getting into that car.
Ok so it's 9 years old yet it still pulls like a train, goes round bends pretty much as well (on the road) as a modern RenaultSport and still...
I assume people must do purely because they're not prepared to go hunting for them I suppose.
I know of a Renault scrap yard not that far from me that I used to pick up all sorts of stuff for the MKI Clio I had a few years back. Can get little bits and pieces mega cheap. :)
Well to start with I was thinking just carbon would look quite cool but then I saw your ones with the 16v decal and that swayed me.
Might got for RenaultSport or 2.0 16v in orange.
Looking on E-bay, even the non-RS ones are going for quite a lot. Silver RS ones are £20+ and non-RS ones are...
Yeah that's what I thought, get them smooth as possible to give a good surface for the wrap.
Just need to get hold of some badges now. Surprising how much people stick them up for on E-bay. May check out the local scrap yard at the weekend though. :)
Nice one, thanks for that link mate.
Looks like I'll get on the hunt for a set of non-RS badges and go from there. They look really good on your car mate, far better than the originals.
I take it the numbers sand off fairly easily. I'm not too fussed about the finish of the plastic as I plan...
I know it's a not quite a Clio but I store my Megane 225 over the winter and I take the battery out. In fact for various reasons I wasn't able to start the car for well over 6 months. Bettery fitter and started first time without any problems.
Thanks mate, that's exactly what I was hoping.
Also, are the letters able to be sanded flat? I've found a set of 1.4 16v ones on E-bay that would be ideal. :)
I was wondering if the door badges on the 172 (MKII) are the same in terms of fitment to the standard door badges such as the 16v/1.4 etc?
The reason I ask is that my 172 currently has DIY sprayed door bullets that are ok but not the best finish. I was thinking if I could get a set of non-RS...
Well I had a set of rims on my old Lupo powder coated gloss black with a polished lip.
They advised they would coat them first, then polish the lip and leave that bare metal. The reason being that it's very hard to keep the lacquer on bare metal as one chip and it would start to tarnish.
I...
Well I went round and touched up the paint on my alloy wheels where the previous owner had kerbed them. Fortunately only round the outer edge. Up close you can see it's a bit of a rough edge but at least it doesn't draw the eye to the damage. Cheaper than a refurb for now.
Then thought I'd...
I guess with the Trophy being the most desirable model they hold their premiums better.
Thing is you could probably get a lower mileage, better condition car for less money. I'd take a mint 182 over an average Trophy personally. Wouldn't take much to have it handing similarly.
