Not sure how much they charge per hour but cambelt plus aux belt and all the tensioners/kit plus the service (oil change etc) works out at £550.
For comparsion Renault wanted over £600 for the cambelt alone so add the service on top and it's going to get expensive.
Very wise words Stevie...I...
Nice choice although I'm sure most CS users will tell you the Clio range runs back to front (197 being the crappest and Mk1 172 being the best) lol
Enjoy the car:D
What a moment of madness
Car going to be booked in for next month
Need to get some miles on it now.....I hear these Clios are quicker when loosened up:D
Renault Bath wanted £600 just for the cambelt so I won't be doing dealerships for sure....with a service on top it'll work out very expensive.
Looks like the drive down to Portsmouth could be on the cards to Rentech.
Appreciate the positive comments and I think I've seen sense...rattly...
Yeah..the history of cars is always an unknown...even if they have had service history etc & I know I could end up with a car with niggles which need sorting.
Justin...are SJ Cooks any good at doing 172 cambelts....have you had yours done there?
What are there prices like?
Well I'm the opposite...never had a car new enough to be under warranty so have ended up doing a lot of work on cars myself etc.
Problem is these days I don't have the time or interest in it to get my hands dirty so it's out with the money.....also with a jopb as important as the cambelt you...
197 looks great in the silver.....glad it's running well.
Nice bike as well...I ride to work a lot, always good to keep a few miles off the car and get fit at the same time:D
And back to aircon
Wouldn't it also b**ger the resale value of the car?
Okay in a cup which isn't supposed to have it but people do buy FF clios for the toys.
Also be crap having buttons on the dash that don't work when pressed lol
It does put me off a bit as well even though people say they are fine etc.
Looking at Golfs as well and the only low milage ones in my price bracket are the underpowered 1.6 ones which is no good really.
£550 just sounds like a lot of money but I know it has to be done otherwise it'll be bye...
