I've made a final decision based on all your answers (wish I posted a poll for this controversial subject). Tbf my final decision is also based on frivolous speculation!
My new Exaltos will go on the back. The consensus is that rear tyres should be the best ones ... but also from memory the...
Cool. Just bought a pair of 195 50 V Pilot Exaltos for my 15"ers from Costco for just £89!!!
1. Hoping the 50 will work okay on a Clio mk1, but should I have gone for a 45 really ifI plan to lower a lot? 50s were by far the cheapest.
2. Will it be okay / is is legal to have these 50s on the...
I have a pair of Cobra Monacos that I want to fit in my Clio mk1.
The obvious choice would be to buy the proper Cobra subframes for the car, but these would cost about £150 a pair, almost what I paid from the seats!
The Cobra universal frames would only be £100 but even more importantly...
He has now replied:
I have measured the measurements as
requested. Sorry for taking a bit long of you, here
are their measurements:
Centra cap = 53mm diameter (measured on the original
centre cap)
Alloy wheel centre bore = 60.1mm diameter (it's
written on the inner lip of the bore hole)...
I emailed the guy who I'm picking the wheels up from to ask for the centre bore measurements and he has replied:
'I will try my best to ask my mate to measure the centre cap and the bore hole size as it is such an easy job. For your information, it is not necessary to have spigot rings as...
Alright, how about free transport (30 mile radius) £101 cash, and a beer? £30 bonus for fitting my new front coilovers. I can even bring it to anywhere within London area on Sat 06/10/07.
Re: Any1 know where I can get a full decal kit to turn a Clio mk1 into a rally car?
No. Looking for weeks. Not a full rally sticker kit catering for mk1s. Just ghey girly graphics. (serves me right for buying a girly car, eh!)
There was def a kit on the market 6 months ago tho. £140 but worth it.
Well, I bought a pair of tasty four pointers. Understand from post 7 where to put first two points, but can't work out for sure (even from the link in post 8) where the best points are behind, assuming no cage.
No one on this forum yet seems to have posted clear photos of their mounting points...
Awwww, ffs! (seriously, thanks for the info tho!) I thought I'd checked every one of those pesky measurments before buying, and now there's more to get the b******s on!
If I could afford an expert / Demon Tweeks / engineer, I would have spent more than £90 on alloys with tyres! Please...
So really easy to pinch?!
Any idea which brands of backboxes are best known for a nice sound? I'm more interested in sound than looks. I compare a good zorst to my lady. I don't want to spend hours looking at the rear, but want to hear the bleating when I hit full throttle.

will...
Thanks, great info!
I've decided I can't justify spending £100s on a full system if it won't fit my next car.
Just a few more questions to help me decide what else I can do.
1. What are the disadvantages of a universal backbox over a custom / specific? There must be a reason that someone...
Comedy gold! I'm so glad you told me!
Here are the wheels I bought:

Here's a bunch of spigot rings:

I want to put a performance exhaust on my mk1, but only expect the car to last another couple of years, so would want to transfer the exhaust to another.
Would a performance exhaust for my mk1 be transferable to other Clio models / car models, or are they model specific?
Will the wheel bolts on my steels also work on my new alloys when I get them? I know its not ideal for the long run. In the short-term I have a high security nut for each wheel, but I want to get the car home and see what it looks like before I choose the remaining bolts to match.
That's bad news :(
Why would someone spend £500 (inc labour) to lower their Clio 15mm?!! I don't think 45mm max will be enough for me either. I'm running skinny 15"ers on a stripped car.
