He was using the Subaru as an example to explain the relevance of knock sensors to fuel grade/RON which I thought was a good way to illustrate the point.
Mixing petrol....do you mean using octane booster?
Compared to the 182 you'l find the Golf TDIs handling/steering so, so vague...you can really feel that it's a heavy car.
Economical though and if your doing large amounts of motorway miles is quiet and comfortable at speed.
I used Super in my WRX and that was fine even though it was an import so I always whack SU in my 172 knowing that it's safe.
Lots of people rate Optimax but I also don't use it as there just aren't enough Shell garages around my way.
The one piece exhaust for the 172 is bloody expensive new...IIRC Renault quoted me over 300 for one!
Obviously I sacked that off and got a K-tec Stealth instead.
I had a custom made Janspeed exhaust on my old 205 gti and the quailty was very good.
Brought a Janspeed sports cat recently aqnd that's good quality also but not sure what their exhausts are like nowadays.
Always sad seeing a cherished car go:(
I remember selling my old car...met up with the buyer who I knew at a pub down the road handed over the keys, had a pint and walked home with the cash in my pocket feeling a little sad.
That soon passes though when you find something new:D
Good luck...
