brake disk corrosion on 172 cup

All these problems with brakes doesn't make me feel good.....have to keep an eye on them. Hope you get them sorted

    Pi**ed OFF!!!!

Some trim falling off is one thing but having the brakes fall apart is potentially life threatening. I'd get them to replace them
  3. Neil G

    Pi**ed OFF!!!!

That does sound very, very s**t for the disks to be gone after that milage.....I'd definately be on Renaults back demanding some answers.

brake disk corrosion on 172 cup

Oh yeah, don't compare the rear pad thickness with the fronts...as new the rear pads are a lot thinner...i'd say probably around 1-2 cm thick.

brake disk corrosion on 172 cup

My brakes always bind up a bit if the car has been sitting for a while.....bit alarming when you go to reverse out of the garage and there's a big bang as they release!

    Ecotex valves

Oh dear I think that definately concludes the discussion on ecotek valves..the general opinion is that they are bollox and a waste of money.

Need your comment on engine cover colour scheme

Why not save some time etc and leave it the standard silver colour.

    Rattling exhaust

Get under the car and have a good look around for loose bolts and heatshields.

Service - where would you take it?

Cars out of warranty so more than happy to have it serviced/maintained by an independant dealer/mechanic. By the standards of the last Renualt dealer I dealt with your probably better off anyway.

    evo8 fq330 v Clio V6 255

For a Clio forum there does seem to be an incredible amount of banter invloving other marques of car and pub B.S about 0-60 times etc etc zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    tyre pressures

yep, that's the correct pressures to run:D

Service - where would you take it?

I'm going to take my car down to Rentech....it'll take me 11/2 hours to get there but by a lot of comments on here it'll be worth it.

    172, WRX & civic type S on a track

But they didn't have the IC waterspray and more importantly, the closed deck block of the STIs Civic..well, it's not going to do well on the track

    Clio 182 or Corsa VXR

    It's a Vauxhall..need I say more Go 172/182
  15. Neil G

    Electronic Turbo????

I can see the point but a Viper, BMC etc really does produce very little in terms of positive pressure like a turbo does... but, I suppose you get a nice flow of cool air.

    Clio 182 or Corsa VXR

Funny:D I would never buy a Vauxhall let alone a Corsa...I just don't like the marque very much. 182/172 will handle better anyway.

    172, WRX & civic type S on a track

Sounds good mate....I had 2 years of reliable, fun motoring out of mine but boy did it cost me in insurance and petrol. I do think my current 172 has better steering/feedback than my WRX ever had which does make it very enjoyable to drive.

    172, WRX & civic type S on a track

Early scoobs hard to map OE ecu....most people use eprom chips but the are hard to source now.....other people use aftermarket ecus, the most popular now being Apexi units.

    172, WRX & civic type S on a track

M reg WRX (1995) stepped up to the z4 ecu which ran 260ps.....knock about 10/20bhp off though as this figure is based on jap fuel which is 100ron.....it'll produce less power even on Optimax. STIs were always more powerful...went from 250bhp on first model up to 280 on later editions:D

    Electronic Turbo????

That stuff looks pretty dodgy to me....I'll think I'll give it a miss and keep my pistons/engine on one piece.

    Clio Trophy

Uh Oh...Platnium Renault in Trowbridge in only just down the road from me.....looks like I may have to go and have a look:D

    wrote my clio off!!! nooooo

Sorry for you mate...that's not good:( I do believe newer Clios did very well in crash/safety tests though

    172, WRX & civic type S on a track

Don't think that's too true mate I owned an old 94 plate WRX and it was very, very quick and is much lighter than the newage 2000 on variants. If your coming up against Type R versions you'll stuggle....we're talking lightened versions of the already quick STI Import with DCCD and close ratio...

    Robbing B*startds

4yrs though....needs coolant and brake fluid change....still far too much....they wanted 100 notes just to go the oil filter & oil change!!!! Belts are obviously 5yrs/36k so that's next year.....I am going to take the car to Rentech anyway as I don't want it abused!
  25. Neil G

    Recommend me an exhaust

I did have to slightly modify the hangar to get my Stealth not to knock but the end result is very nice. Kinda matter of personal preference....I really like the hidden tailpipe
  26. Neil G

    Robbing B*startds

    I got quoted over £300 for a 24k service from renault.
