Yeah there's no trouble starting. When it cut out on me this morning and the STOP light and battery came on I thought I was f*cked, but it started up again no problem at all.
The head work was pretty basic, though, surely? The cylinder head and cams setup is hardly rocket science and the tappets are auto-adjustable too. The timing could be the pain, though, yes. Anyway, when I got the car back it was driving and was fine, just a little lumpy. The idling wasn't...
I've got one to go on. Had it for a while now. Cost me £40. Trouble is, I have stripes on my RB182 which go down to the existing Renault Sport badge on the left. If I remove the badge, there'll be nothing there so I'll have to get the stripes going down to the bottom of the boot.
Unless, of...
Yeah but it's only done 35k. Must be an age thing set in by the French. B*stards.
It's a bloody great little car though. Love it, but don't like the bills currently.
Local indie. If there's a problem with that, they can sort it because I'm not paying labour all over again to have it sorted. I've to phone at 4pm today as they're having a look at it now.
I'm having the same dreams as you all of a sudden...mmm fire ;)
Excuse the long read, but I can't really summise it any better.
My 35k mile RB182 has been tapping ever since I went over a speed bump several months ago (I still think it dislodged a tappet or did something to create the problem). It split the centre section of the exhaust from the cat in the...
Re: XxHarDinGxX's Project Racing Blue
That's what I thought too mate. I wanted to take them off but I'm very wary of the paintwork condition underneath. Plus the niggling feeling that I actually like the stripes as it gives the car an individual look and Gordini style. Not that anyone else...
They definitely do. My 35k 182 was tappety and I had the tappets replaced. Sorted it. KTEC also said it was extremely rare for them to fail but Renault diagnosed it and my local independant too. All quiet again now
Re: XxHarDinGxX's Project Racing Blue
Like I say, mine is exactly the same, on from new. It just seems that there isn't an actual "this is right" way of striping. It just subjective on whoever fits them. My missus' old RB182 had them down to the badge, too.
Re: XxHarDinGxX's Project Racing Blue
They are also on Ebay, mate.

You order the Clio 2 xBxx RSTuner (standard), no module and no accessories.
Should come to around 220 euros in total (including carriage) which is around £180 in total.
When it arrives, you plug it into your car and capture an image of the ECU via your laptop. You then send that image to...
Cheers buddy.
I'm just reading the quick guide that came with the device, and I got to Vehicle to-do's before reprogramming:
- Backup the ECU configuration by pressing the button 'config backup' on the main RSTuner screen when needed. After reprogramming don't forget to restore the backup...
Mine has arrived today.
Quick question, when I'm setting this up, do I need to be charging the battery or will it be fine as it is? I've just noticed a video on Youtube of a Megane R26 demo and the battery is being charged while the calibration is being done?
Cheers.
Did you remove the stripes off your new one or did it come with them off? As you said your first one left distinct lines. That's something I don't want.
My striped RB is 8 years old now, and I'm pretty sure it's had the stripes on since new.
I'm contemplating removing them, but as the car is currently getting work done, I'm wondering if the paintwork will clash once the stripes are removed. White stripes are fine, but slightly different racing...
