Wouldnt it either work or not if the wire wasnt up to the task? Or blow the fuse if it was demanding more power?
Im in the middle of my conversion and just have the track rods to swap onto my DCI rack and then it will be ready to go and I will see if I have the same concerns!
Just FYI, you can fit 6.5 inch speakers in the front doors, with a slight trim to the doorcard. Just make sure you get a shallow-ish speaker as the baskets can hit the window/stop it coming fully down. I went full whack and ran new wire into the doors (through a multiplug) and to the tweeters...
Hi mate, dont happen to know what track rods your using? I fitted standard 172 ones to my DCI rack and they are way too short! Not sure whether I need DCI or cup ones!
Thanks.
Hi everyone,
Background, ph2 172 with corbeau buckets, oreca harnesses (4 point), Jon Foz frames (when I order them!).
Im aware of the risks running harnesses in the seatbelt holes and the less than ideal angles.
Can I get away with a harness bar between the rear turrets and if so, any...
I love this car! Proper approach and everything done well and no corners cut!
How did you wire in the kill switch? Just wired to the negative or positive?
And what sort of terminals on the battery?
Cheers.
Ive got a battery box in the wheel well, 25mm2 cable with a 125 amp megafuse next to it, longacre bulkhead connector, and then cables joined in a dist. box. Ive done away with the fuse on the starter cable and crimped a new ring terminal onto it. Earthed with a short cable bolted to the wheel...
Hmm seems very high! When I was 21 I insured my 182 for 1k, that was with Elephant, fully comp, business cover, 3 points and a claim!
Look around and add named drivers etc and fiddle with the parking on road/garage options and see what gets it as low as possible.
The wiring for EPAS will probably end at the bulkhead connector and need a wire fitting into the engine bay side and a fuse adding to the box.
@GrahamS
@GrahamS hmm I might nip to the scrappys tomorrow and see what I can pilfer.
Can I get to the bulkhead connector with the dash top off or is it a dash-out job?
Yeah, I suppose I could actually use my 8awg wire to that plug and to the bulkhead connector block anyway?
How easy are the pins to remove and fit onto a new wire?
Wow, ridiculously helpful! Thanks for the time and effort doing that.
Il have a look tonight and sure will have some more headscratching!
Ive ordered this kit and it comes with a new plug to wire to...
@GrahamS that would be great if you could. Could you point me to the pins I would need?
So plug and wire from scrappies - pin to bulkhead connector interior side - pin to bulkhead connector engine bay side - run cable to fusebox and fuse it 50 amp from there? Or have you used an OE fuse...
@GrahamS
Thanks, very helpful!
Do you think running it to the through connector and fused just before would be adequate if I were to use my 8awg wire? I will look into the DCI wiring, would it be a case of getting the dash wire from a scrappy or would I need to change my bulkhead plug to the...
I have wiring for cruise but not fitted, its a ph2 172 and behind the panel with the ESP switch, I have a purple plug which I believe is for cruise, would that be suitable?
And am I best splicing in and soldering?
I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the pump, and pipe damaged near the pressure switch causing it to lose fluid.
Ive ripped it all out and going for an EPAS conversion so I dont have to worry about those bloody pipes again!
