i had this problem years ago mate and it turned out it was because i had a non genuine shaft,and it was half an inch to short, mine was the drivers side shaft just like yours,so just to clarify are you using genuine renault shafts? if so get under the car and grab the shaft and see if you can...

Re: The story of a high mileage 172 lol too bad they dont fit right matey :( the tyres didnt look right in the flesh, and needed spacers and longer bolts to fit,and to be honest the car didnt feel the same on them,feels alot better back on the f1's f1's also lighter too which suprised me

just turned on 116k now matey,il be honest the bonnet isnt at its best any more,too many stone chips but then again it is 116k old now so not too bad :) roads around here are stunning to be honest,il be off to take some proper ones with a decent cam soon

dotn worry about it,a min of tapping from cold is fine,near enough every valver (including all of mine and one was on 160k) have all tapped and they have been fine
