mines now coming up to 116k and gets warmed up,cooled down, serviced and thrashed regullarly (just how a 172 should be) and mines still running lovely, and after racing a ph2 172 two days go and pulling past him it still shows they can last if looked after :)
yes it should be covered as the n/s driveshaft runs wet,so that leak you have is you loosing gearbox oil,so get it sorted and you really dont want low/no gearbox oil
Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread
Also yesterday i noticed that the knock sensor was broken. This could be a part cause of the power loss.
got this replaced yet matey?
i would hazard a guess at a possible shock problem mate? iv had this in the past with a previous clio where i would get this vibration through the wheel, upon replacing the front shocks i found they were badly worn and you could feel the movement in them just by pushing by hand :s
Re: The story of a high mileage 172
il admit it looks a bit big in that pic, doesnt quite look that big in person, still with 320bhp every lil helps lol

Re: The story of a high mileage 172
thanks for all the kind comments guys :)
on the rear end subject,to be honest i prefere the all red rear lights, and the bumper on the ph2's are nice, but i kinda think it defys(sp) the point of a ph1 really only imo of course :)
my personal opinion is there great cars,a mates got one and has had from 22k and its done 67k now, admitedly its had 2 headgaskets in that, but that is from uneaven liners,as he had had his cylinder liners measured to find the problem, anyway bk on track,up to 100 its not too far off prob 5-7 car...
