Have you considered a vx220 as an alternative to the elise? I've been quoted 1k for a ph1 172 and about 1800 for a vx so would imagine your quotes for a vx might be near the 1k than the elise

1.6 8v mk2 ph1 is 90bhp and lighter. the 1.6 16v mk2 ph2 is 110bhp, and similar weight. So they would both elave you standing. I should know have raced many a 1.2 in my 1.6 ;)

tbh mate even the 1.6 would leave the 1.2 standing still.

Idle Control Valve. Could just be dirty and need a clean, nbot the most likely, but worth trying coz you can clean it yourself!

Not always, sometimes they want some mroe nformation that dont ask for on the internet, and other times they just dont want to quote the price online because its huge, lol. Best bet is to just phone them. Have you tried the likes of diamond and sheilas wheels? Might be worth a go!

jeez, cant believe that. I'm 21 2 yrs ncb good area but a £2k fault claim 2 years ago. Would have thort as your a young lady and havent had a crash that you would be able to get similar quotes to me.

Taylor, have you tried direct line? Jus a thort as I always thort I couldnt get a decent quote on a 172 untill I tried direct line yesterday. EVen with my crash it was only £1090

I've only ever taken my clio to 110mph plenty left just take ages to get there, that was on the motorway. There is a nice dual carrigeway I have been trying to break 105mph, but just cant seem to do it, isnt long enough. Think I need to try and come off the island onto it a bit quicker :D
