You haven't got a dephaser so your safe on that one.

Fully comp for moi, cost me the same for my 225 this year as well probably could've got it cheaper but as I changed 2 months into a policy they had me against a wall.

Its probably the (de)cat to centre section joint on a 182, they're a b*****d to get to seal. Paste and a decent clamp are a necessity.

Assuming its a 1.2 16v then the oil filter is drivers side rear of the engine. Can get it from below or through the arch.

Was 19 when I had my 172 2yrs ncb, payed £1650 insurance. Was well worth it imo.

Will almost 100% be the dephaser, it'll stop knocking as you pick the revs and and it advances then return as the revs drop and it retards.

New UCH+programming and fitting is circa 250 notes at the moment I think?

Limp mode limits you to 3k though so it might be something else limiting it.

If it is the dephaser (and it sounds like it) stop running the car now! When it fails it'll cause as much damage as the cambelt snapping, as it stands now a new dephaser is circa 100 sheets and the cost of a cambelt on top. I'd suggest you do a search, its hardly a great effort and theres...

Unless the balljoint itself has failed then thats the only way I can think that it can detach. Can't see the two bolts that join it to the wishbone shearing in normal driving.

Build quality is better than a Mk2 but still imo has that "cheap" feel to it, that might be different in a dynamique as the one I drove was an expression. And I understand that it won't be quick but that thing was dangerously slow.

I've only driven a 1.2 Mk3 and i'd forgotten they made cars that slow I could've ran to 60 faster, tbh with the extra weight I would imagine it'll only be the same as a Mk2 1.2 performance wise.

It'll be a fuse. Its the same one for the display/radio iirc. Fusebox is on the passenger end of the dash.

Its very easy to detect and with how widespread it is these days I wouldn't put it past insurance companies checking cars for remaps tbh. Especially with diesels and fi cars where the gains are so easy to accomplish.

Imo, thats what should've been standard spec like the 1*2. Having said that the cabasse radio is a fecker if your planning on changing it.
