Everything, don't trust garages as far as I could throw one. Its not their car so they won't really give a f**k like you do when its your own car and you want it doing right (imo).
The front capilers won't fit the hubs and the rears won't work as you'll have problems with the ABS unless you get custom ABS rings made up and I can't remember how many teeth you need but they need to be the same as the rings that are already on the drums. Or the ABS will just kick in everytime...
Either a Megane 225 or a Mazda 3/6 MPS, I want something quicker and it has been declared thou shalt have a turbo. Although having done the whole clio/renault thing i'm open to anything as long as it forfills the criteria.
It'll be ok to drive to get it sorted but I wouldn't leave it, it needs sorting asap. You don't want the grease to get on the brakes and you certainly don't want all the grease out of the joint or you'll end up buying a new driveshaft.

Hmm strange can't get a part number for the drivers side that tallies to a price, only the passenger side. Ring the stealers is your best bet, says £35 for the passenger side one here so no major.
Easy to replace, mine are absolutely solid in the hubs though. Not a problem if its already shot though. Hold on i'll get you a rough price and part number.
Yeh he said he'd found the compatibility with the headunits was all over the place too. Its not the best system in the world either imo, very clunky. Works mind.
As TomTom says theres a high chance it'll be the TDC sensorw which is a common thing on them tbh.
Its located under the airbox (http://gallery.getflat.co.uk/v/My_Cars/2001_Clio_12_16v_Dynamique/Standard/02082005.JPG.html) on the gearbox bellhousing and looks like this...
