Gutted Kerbed a week before WSR!

I've used laptab in brum a few times, always a brilliant job and not too dear either.

    insurance time again

Flux, about the only people to insure me on the 172 at 19.

    cambelt snapped

Damn right they should to. Its just lazy, wasting a belt and risking more damage trying it with a new belt. Bad practice imo. Very few engines are non-interference these days, and the renault 16v lumps certainly aren't theres no way in hell theres not bent valves.
  4. B

    cambelt snapped

Valves will have been bent, theres no point putting a new belt on it before you've stripped the head off.
  5. B

    cambelt snapped

Damn right^, theres no way in hell he's gotten away without bending a few valves so I certainly wouldn't feck things up more by trying to start it.

    Speedline Turini - for a 172FF - sizes?

Scrap that, there ET48.5. What offset did you get them in? Cup ET38?

    replacing front discs-advice?

The disc torx bolts are T40 iirc.

sillyist thing you have ever done in your clio...

Its very easy to overstep it though imo because it being so predictable it gives you a bit of a false sense of confidence at the time, I just left it a little to late before getting on the power to correct it and it was too far gone by then. Luckily I escaped with paint damage only.

    How much brake fluid..

Was planning on bleeding it through, wouldn't drain it in a million years! Thats a whole new world of pain! So 1l is enough to keep topping up and pump it through all round yeah?

    How much brake fluid..

Do you need to flush the braking system on a 172? Looking to get some castrol response dot4 stuff and want to make sure I flush all the old stuff out. A litre bet enough or would I need 2?

    Speedline Turini - for a 172FF - sizes?

Standard wheels are 16x7j and ET47.5, i'd go as close to that as you can imo. Although i've got no idea what offsets are avaliable.

    Servicing Interval Query...

18k/2yr is rediculous anyway, i'd go with 9k/1yr at an absolute max. I always change oil/filter every 5k. The service schedule for most new renaults now is back to 12k/1yr so that says something.

    replacing front discs-advice?

You need to remove the caliper and the carrier to change to disc afaik. Used to on my old dynamique, and i'll assume its the same for the 1*2.

sillyist thing you have ever done in your clio...

Bounced the old one off some railings backwards in the rain once* :o, lesson well learnt there. Other than that i'm sure theres loads of things i've forgotten, but thats definetly the biggest. *Lift off oversteer is really cool up until this point ;).

    speed sensative volume..

As i've said in the other posts its the violet wire in the hu power iso loom.

    Clutch advice..

Not really surprised, assuming its a 1.2 should be more than a few hundrer quid to do it. It'd cost about £70 on parts if you could diy.
  17. B

    wht does this mean

It can't rub on the lower spring bed as its never any closer to the wheel than it is now. If its anything it'll be the arch/arch liners or a knackered wheel bearing if its a constant drone.

    Hub

Stupid point but your using the right socket? Should be a 30mm. I've never had any problem with the socket slipping off.
  19. B

    Clutch advice..

How many miles? Age? Lifespan will vary on how its been used.

    24000 Service

Think its a bit steeper that normal, although i'm not sure as i've never taken a car to a garage to be serviced.

    Nice 1.2 Mate

Lasted til this evening before I got bored of them lol, now back as standard.

    RS pet hates

My only real complain is how it drives like a complete fecking dog from cold, other than that nothing really. Though i'm sure once i've done the aux/cambelt i'll have more things to add lol. I've had three clios i'm a row now so i'm pretty used to the other little "quirks" of it.

    rear brake abs rings

Don't suppose you've got a gsf part number for them? Cheapest before that was £150 from GDI.
  24. B

    Nice 1.2 Mate

Theres plenty of people round here that seem not to though! Only a novelty 6 quid purchase, don't think they'll be on very long before I get bored with them.

    Nice 1.2 Mate

Got to be good for a few confused looks ;).

    rear brake abs rings

How much are the preassembled discs from renault?
  27. B

    clutch release bearing and arm

The trouble may arise there if the relase fork is made for the bellhousing of the gearbox as the 172 uses the JC5 box whereas the valver a JB3 box.
  28. B

    clutch release bearing and arm

There all the same from what i've got, part number: 77 00 112 818 CLUTCH FORK 31.54 ---3 x 1 Might not be concurrent though so still best to give them a ring.
  29. B

    clutch release bearing and arm

I'll have a look on dialogys in a min to see if the part numbers tally, give me a min.
