Hadn't had any problems with a renault until I had to spend a weekend living in the garage rebuilding the gearbox on the 1.6, the old 1.2 took some abuse and never complained though. Other than that no problems to speak of touch wood, will definetly be buying another one will be 182 time next.

Yep you'd be able to see by the clutch itself if you been hammering it for 13k.
The 16v engine will require more work whereas the 8v will just be a striaght swap. You'd have issues with the insurance etc if you put the 16v engine in too and its probably not worth the hassle of getting it all working either.

Yep, as said they just screw in from behind. Will probably be best off to remove the bumper to fit them and the wiring though as you won't be able to see what your doing otherwise.
Looked into it briefly out of interest. Came to the conclusion quickly that its not worth the cost of a 172/182 rear axle (~£500) just for the look as theres no real braking benefit given by the discs over drums.
It should have come with them to begin with imo but thats another thing.
Does the clock not display when the engine is running ? It will only show when the headunit or the lights are on if the ignition is off. I'd check the fuses if it isn't.
Dimms all the dash lights for nightime driving, don't really use it myself but its a novelty. Some people might not like the bright interior lights at night.
For a standard system its not too bad imo but its no comparison to some decent aftermarket stuff.
There are two tweets in the dash with mids in front doors and a set of coxials in the rear, believe they're about 22w.

I've got a quiet whinning which sounds like a supercharger at the moment, can only hear it if your listening for it. Guess it must be this, doesn't do it all the time though generally only when its hot and its getting some thrash.
