    what joins a water pump and pistons in a car?

    Depends what your on about on the 172 the water pump is powered of the AUX belt which is powered by the crank which is turned by the connecting rods which is moved up and down by the pistons. There no real connecting bit though realy though.

    Removing he cat should help give the optential and a bit more power as there less restriction in the sysem but the risk of failing an MOT on emmsions since the cats not there is higher.

    The most important things are the drivability of the car and real power at the wheels. Thats why I'd never 1) trust a dyno (after all my cars 79hp if you belive them) 2) why bigger bottom end is so much better.

    They outperform as they've less Power spapping bits on them. The Cup was to cut not increase costs. If they've had picked it would have upped the cost can you imagine best testing every engine?

    Strange problem with ESP I think

    That problem is 182 specific though not a 172 issue. Are you sure your switching the ESP on not switiching it off? The system would do this if it were on and had a fauklt or misaligned sensors.

    Put deposit down.

    Don't forget the cambelt should be changed at 5 years/72k although its best change it easier as its expnsive to fix. Its not cheap to do either.

    You don't need to change the shocks can go down 60mm its just the shocks will wear more how much quicker is difficult to say. Put it this way on stock springs I had worn the dampers in under 50k to a level I wasn't happy with. Other have had springs on for 60k and are still happy with the ride...
