Do you know when it was built ? It could feasibly have been built 6+ months before you drove home in it, so a dead battery is a possibility.

What car for starters ?
Where are you based ? Lots of Clio specialists about.. and useful members on here who might be able to help.
Could be an earth, broken wire, relay or stalk at a guess. Might be alternator, then again it could be the boot carpet at fault as it's a Clio and often...
