Headlight problems....

  Clio 1.2 Ripcurl
Hi please help!! I'm a single Mum and need advice!!
So my saga started Tuesday night when my headlights wouldn't turn off, I disconnected the battery but had pressed the central locking to then realise the passenger door lock doesn't work 🤦🏻‍♀️ one useless AA Home start membership and £120 on a locksmith later and I was in! The lights were on when I reconnected the battery though. So the next day after lots of driving and lights still on I drove to garage, pulled my car in and they went off....I looked like a crazy woman!! But ever since then my low beam are so dull I thought I had no lights that night, side lights aren't coming on either but full beam works fine!!?? From this I'm guessing it's not the battery or altinator, there's no warning lights and it starts fine. Could it be a relay or fuse issue? If so which relay?? I've already spent £170 this month on the stupid car and just need it working!!!

What car for starters ?

Where are you based ? Lots of Clio specialists about.. and useful members on here who might be able to help.

Could be an earth, broken wire, relay or stalk at a guess. Might be alternator, then again it could be the boot carpet at fault as it's a Clio and often, nothing makes sense :ROFLMAO:

I’m a non-married childless man with a girlfriend and cat. As others have said, details of the car (model and year) would really help. It sounds as likely that you’re going to have to make sure all all earths are good and if the problem is still present, trace the wiring back for an issue.

I'm going to assume it's a Mk3 Clio as you have 1.2 Ripcurl under your name.

If that's the case then they have some of the worst indicator/headlight stalks ever made. The contacts inside break and can make turning the lights on and off very intermittent. It sounds like you need a new stalk to me.

Also, double check the battery is connected securely as if it's slightly loose it will throw up all sorts of problems.

I'm in South Oxfordshire. Someone else has just said it could be a bad earth or light connections.

Need to know what car really. Could just be a broken stalk.

Was the headlight light on the dash?
It's a 57 1.2 Ripcurl. The low beam comes on the dash when they are on but they are just really dim, when I turn it once for side lights it's the same dim low beam lights that come on as when I put low beam headlights on, full beam works fine. They worked fine before the stupid things wouldn't turn off this week lol
