ClioCup vs CooperS vs FocusRS vs Scooby

Interesting article - way too sensible for Evo! Strange how they compare cars costing £13,000 and £21,500 in the same test though - how many people who bought a Cup were also actively considering a Scooby I wonder?

    C172 heated mirrors

When you turn the rear windows heater on the mirrors get quite warm - just stick your hand out of the windows and see!

    I now have 180BHP!!

You can choose a quieter exhaust if you prefer - the Magnex isnt as loud as the K-Tec item. Its personal choice really. Well see how well this solution works with a Magnex soon....

    I now have 180BHP!!

Yeah we can do a swap for a few circuits - itll remind you what us poor unfortunates with just the stock 170bhp have to put up with! Im doing a lot of hours at my part-time job at the moment getting my mods fund sorted out for next spring! PS - John - I think you just rang - my mobile went...

    Cheap track day wheels.

Ah, in that case the genuinely cheap option comes down to a jack, a wheelbrace and 4 piles of bricks!

    Cheap track day wheels.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Or, if you want genuinely cheap then get a set of 16" steel wheels off a Laguna.

advice/opinion on 1.2 Extreme (might buy)

It certainly sounds a bargain to me - I had a 1.2 as a courtesy car earlier this week and I enjoyed driving it. Any new car for £7,700 would be ok - but this is a proper one :D

    Wheely confusing

Look on the home page at Articles - Tyre fitment guide its all on there. Dont worry about the acceleration - youll never notice unless youre a quarter mile junkie.

Can I fit 17s on a 172 without any probs

The adverse effect on peformance of bigger wheels has been debated in the past on these very pages. I seem to remember that it would only be noticable if you had some really accurate timing equipment - e.g. a drag strip with timing equipment. I can say for sure though that my car (with 16s) has...

    top speed!!

On a race track you dont usually get the chance to test your top speed - for some reason the ones I go to always have lots of curvy bits that slow you down  Even had a go on the main runway at Heyford airbase - not long enough!

172 and Cup humbe the V6

I must say Im amazed. Ive lapped Bedford Autodrome (along with many other members) with a V6 on the track and it was a lot faster than me! Mind you, the V6 was being driven by the British F3000 champion. I think you need to be a really good driver to get the best out of the V6 on a track. A 172...
