A/C get it leak tested before chucking parts at it imo. Kit on my heap is original 220k miles old and works fine so general wear and tear may not be it.
Rust, expect inside out so whatever you can see it'll be worse, more than likely chop out and weld new metal in job. I'm in the same boat...
It's an original RS2 carbon inlet chap, well documented modification from a number of years back. Been knocked off by other imitations and re-creations more recently but this is imo the original and best design.

Bought some NOS fog lights as ones on the car were mis match original (worn) and new pattern one (not acceptable, lol!)
Treated the brackets/trims to a clean and many many coatings of perl aswell. Need to get some new bulbs now then I can fit them

2001 didn't, only the early cars did to my knowledge
My late 2000 titanium didn't, it was steel
my current 2001 didnt, it was steel as well but I have since replaced it with an alloy one
