Think about it though, when you are jacking up the car you are not lifting the whole weight of it, only 1/4 or maybe 1/2 if you are jacking the rear end up on the beam itself.
As said just be careful with engines, check it turns over by hand before buying. I learnt the hard way.
Remember you'l need to make the loom to run with the Mk1 (modifying/cutting/adding bits in), then a Ph1 ECU and an emulator. From there its drop in, plug in and go. Downpipe has to be made...
You could of got...
For cheaper. :dapprove: Bigger Lifting Range/Better Built/Lower
I had a Clarke one the same as the eBay ad, it bent/twisted lifting my Mk1
Not sure....I think it was the same one, but still havent seen it again so not sure. It would make sense as they weigh around a tonne, and my bhp/tonne is around that, so it would be close.
Either way I know you can get silly power from them with not much money spent.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
The funniest bit was calling the marhshall over as the car wouldnt start, thought the battery was flat. Then by the time he had got over it had started lol.
And Andy yeah, its a possibility, although I have no adjustment in that. Dropped the tyre pressures...

Depends if the colt is standard I guess. Although I had one side by side from 30mph upto the limiter in 5th, nothing in it at all, complete dead level in every gear, not sure if it was standard or modded (had to be around 215bhp/tonne or more for the result that came out of it)....and my car is...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Still drives yeah, carried on driving it on track. It was 'only' costmetic damage, door/rear qtr/front wing/headlight/wingmirror...whole side hit the tyres/barrier
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Sort of, has a couple of PIC chips and some other gubbins (im guessing some type of circuit protection). The board isnt even an inch x an inch, its tiny. It just outputs an 'OK' code to the ECU, but the ECU has to be decoded/virginised for it to recognize...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I had to pay for it yeah, another £36. I suppose its better than £75+VAT for a decode just to virginise another ECU though. Warranty is only 3 months on them as far as I can see, ive had it since the start of May :(
Just for reference to my other post...Mine were machined to fit the coilovers by powerstation, and look exactly like the picture (maybe tiny bit less gap)
I see what you mean....BUT....that top plate that you say wont go down far enough, is the plate that is machined dependent on the model of coilover they are being used on, so it stops after the thread and fits perfectly (exactly like in the picture)...
Mine is exactly like that, but I have only...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
PM me your address and il send it over, see what you can make of it!
I spoke to the supplier on the phone (he acctually produces them himself)...he said he doesnt know how its gone wrong, as its a read only chip that transmits 'OK' out to the ECU as long...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Also.........
New emulator just turned up in the post. Fitted it to my ECU to replace the other, fired up first time! So that explains it. Just one dodgy emulator caused all this, god knows how it went though!
Least I can hopefully use my own ECU for...
