It wont hurt to change the tie rods and track rods for new, but from experience the creaking when turning will be a bottom balljoint. Had that issue a few times on these.
Forgot to add above, changed pollen filter in the morning. Was discusting as expected.
With the tyres, oil and plugs done took the extra home and took it out for a drive round locally, steady away to use this old fuel up. No more misfiring or nothing and done approx 50 miles. Mpg has gone up...
Updates.
Extra used as a van today! I had 70ltrs of oil to dispose of and the front o/s tyre needed resealing on the bead on the 225 as it kept going down.
Van life.
Extra van works as intended. Flying along as usual.
My mate popped the bead off the tyre to reseal. This highlighted the...
Just 8 vehicles at the moment
The stars have aligned and they are all taxed, insured and mot'd from today. I actually think this is the first time they have all been legal at the same time
Cheers mate.
Your absolutely correct on the mileage. Its like 8-12k in the blue van with work etc. Rest its between 12-1000 miles a year unless euro road trip
Updates.
Extra van woken up after winter layup.
Primed oil system, hit the switch and started up easy as usual.
Warmed engine up then oil and filter change, fresh Valvoline VR1 20/50 and purflux filter.
Now taxed and ready for a run out. Small list of planned jobs to do but nothing...
Updates.
Taxed today as 1st of the month. F me the tax is expensive on these compared to megane!
Weather outstanding today so took it out. First stop was to my mates garage for alignment as was a mile out due to new steering rack.
On geo lift.
Set toe to usual ten mins of toe out overall...
The whole lecture about garage always gets blamed is b****cks really. Mot is only one day a year, and i bet they would say no problems on the day if investigated. Customer must have changed it after mot.
Quick blast out lastnight.
Had a bit of fun with a Kawasaki bike. Lad was holding me up and wound the throttle on to see me off, obviously not full send as i know how fast bikes are, but he did look at me with the wtf is in that as i kept the pace
Thanks for reading!!
Mot passed.
12 miles last year, embarassing
Done a few miles on way to mot station to rinse the old fuel. Stuck some fresh fuel in and took the long way back home giving it a couple of decent pulls. I can officially say the high rpm gearchange problem it had is fully resolved and you...
Before chucking any more parts at it, id get some diagnostics done with can clip. Id start by looking at the lambda and map sensor data.
Might even be an injector on its way, mine used to stutter a bit then injector failed.
Random one but need a bit of reassurance.
Filled up the Trophys gearbox with elf nfx - first time ive used it and noted no cats piss smell like the old nfp/nfj. Im used to the smell of gear oil absolutely assaulting my nostrils but it hardly smelt of anything.
Is this normal or is It...
Updates.
Mrs drove the kangoo to Croft on Good Friday as support vehicle for the r26 with spare wheels in and tools.
Doing van things.
Its not moved since as been busy with the Trophy. Had a bit of spare time today so give it a clean.
Wheels needed a bit of tlc,Bh autowheel gets them clean...
Finished off last few jobs on the Trophy on Sunday morning and test driven a few laps of the block.
All went well, new clutch is quite snappy but a decent improvement over the old helix/less of a knee breaker. Gear change is improved too much better than last setup, shift feels quite positive...
Sat update.
Started with changing the lower wishbones. Whipped them off and the powerflex bushes were in a lot worse condition than expected.
Fcuked
This beauty was not visible until removed as hidden behind the reinforcing plate on the subframe.
Pretty bad, the thin outer casing on the...
A few more pics that might be of interest.
The older purple powerflex bushes and damaged casing/spot welds broken.
New lower arms with newer style Powerflex black bushes that have a shoulder to stop movement/washers to keep them tight.
NDO gearbox in situ, knacker tight. The gap between...
Its a right carry on to be fair. Clean and prep and then get it on fast and panic if applying outside if it clouds over as rain ruins it before it goes off
The wipes need the same prep - apc scrub etc but the finish is fully cured in an hr. I done my front composite door on my house due...
