My car has a custom remap to suit the RS2, but i'm considering removing it and putting the car back to standard. Obviously i'll need the mapping changed once complete to either the standard map or a remap.
Cheapest option looks to be the RS Tuner, as i'll be able to buy a second hand unit...
I can't imagine the sparco's being much different to be honest.
I definitely found the driving position better with the clubsports, but had the X-low subframes from Jon Foz again. These are about as low as you can go really. The recaro lowering frames are about 30-40mm lower than standard. I...
If you can get up to Nottingham they normally have the R100 in stock, so can try them out in store before buying. Best to arrange a time with them though, as if they've already got a customer walking around they might not let you in.
I sat in them briefly in store and didn't find them very...
I've not seen power that high before using a RS2/SM inlet, are you saying you're just running wilder cams and a SM inlet to achieve that?
To be honest with the info in the other thread, which i think you've posted, i'm wondering if it's worth ditching the RS2 and just running 197 cams, seems to...
I'll probably end up getting another Scenic shifter in the end and just bending it back a little further to suit, seems to be more available. I can't justify spending £330 on the PMS shifter, plus whatever the balance weight cost on top, when all i'm after is a better position that a £50 scenic...
Another potential customer here....
I'm running a RS2 inlet at the minute on standard timing, mapped by RS Tuning, peak power was 185bhp, with a nice flat torque spread at around 150ftlb. Would love to get closer to 195bhp with 170+ftlb of torque.
Think my belts are due early next year, so...
My front pads are about ready for changing again now.
The OEM Brembo pads lasted surprising well at Donington Park for a track day i did in November last year, only noticed brake fade starting a few times, but was trying to manage the number of hot laps i did back to back most of the day...
Can you still get the BMS shifter? I'd probably consider one of these over the scenic shifter just for the looks.
To be honest i thought i needed to lower the column once i added the 60mm wheel spacer, but i've gotten used to it now and it seems about right. I'm expecting the trendlines to be...
Well last week I'd decided i was going to sell it on and buy something a bit more sensible again, mainly because of the seating position causing me lower back discomfort. Started looking around at 123d and 330d coupes, R56 cooper S, Z4 3.0 Golf GTi, etc.
Then friday i had a quick look on ebay...
Plenty of places that will do powder coating pretty cheap.
I've refurbed wheels in the past myself and have had mixed results. For the time and risk of them turning out rubbish I don't think it's worth the hassle over a cheap powder coating.
Using decent primer, paint, lacquer, filler, sand...
I fitted a set of standard Brembo pads to my 182 about a year ago, I've now done 10k miles on them. That includes a full day (2 full tanks of fuel) at donington park doing up to 4-6 laps followed by a cooling down lap, before going again. I stopped out for almost an hour at the end of the...
I don't think the clio needs more power, certainly not on the road anyway. I guess on track is a little different if you want to compete with M3's etc down the straights, but that isn't what the clio is about
I've always preferred N/A over turbo, but the cost to power/torque gain isn't worth it...
195/50/R15 is the normal tyre size for a 15 x 7J wheel.
If you ordered a set of 15 inch wheels, this is the tyre size i'd expect to receive.
I'd say there are more benefits from running on 15's than sticking to 16 inch anyway. Both on the road and track.
I really wish i'd had held out for a decent 3.0 Z4 when i was looking at the end of December. Ended up with a TT which I sold on at a massive lose 3 months later.
Looking at this thread is tempting me to have another look around for one.
Cheers mate. Selling it was definitely a mistake, glad to have it back now though.
It's not been driven much recently, for two reasons. One I've been off on paternity leave due to the arrival of my third baby girl, but more so because the alternator casing snapped, the bracket also cracked, and...
Pads are a personal preference, a lot of people go with either DS2500 or CL5+ for a starter track day pad. So that would be a good place to start. Depends exactly what you're after too, if you're going to drive to and from the track, you probably don't want to go too hardcore either.
Standard...
Track pads, brake fluid and braided brake line, and a set of decent track tyres, I'd say are the most important.
I've done a track day with uprated fluid braided line and standard brembo pads, but you need to manage the temperature a lot more.
I ran cup dampers and eibach sportlines. With...
I think my Alternator is about to pack in.... seems noisy and there is a slight burning smell that appears to be coming from it, or at least in that area.
I've looked on Eurocarparts, GSF, etc and there appears to be a 75amp option or a 110amp option. Does anyone know which i'd need on a 05...
So i sold this just before Christmas and set about looking for either a Z4 3.0, or a TT 225. Ended up with a TT as i couldn't find a nice enough Z4 in my budget, possibly due to the time of year. Didn't really get on with the TT, it's a nice car and certainly a lot faster than the clio, but i...
They do seem very flexible, I tried sitting in one before bolting it into the car and was very concerned about the flex. Seem to remember asking on here about it actually. But once bolted in they're not too bad. Like i Said above, i just had a bit of flex in the bottom when gravity forced me...
I had this setup when i had clubsports for the buckle. Didn't like having the buckle bolted to the side of the seat, as the seats are just fibreglass.
I really liked these seats and may get them again. I did find the shoulder wings a little too rounded forwards for me on long distance drives...
I used Vogtland springs and dampers on my old hybrid turbo'ed tdi jetta. I didn't want to spend too much at the time and i think these were only about £360.
From memory they're quite popular in the rest of Europe and America, and share parts with Koni (or another well known brand). I had no...
I've used Nankang NS-2R in the past and wouldn't bother with them again unless for a track car, they're good in the dry and seem to last well on track, but the wet grip on the road is a bit crap to be honest (similar to the Toyo T1R that were on the car when i bought it). These get better rating...
ITB setup would probably cost £1.5k fitted and setup (£2k+ with aftermarket ECU easy). Plus it's low mileage. Without belts if it's in decent condition I'd say £2.5k was a fair price to be honest.
At the end of the day the belt and dephaser is £500 fitted. I'd always factor in getting it done...
Short shifters don't work to well with the clio gearbox, as it rushes the syncro mesh. At least that's my limited understanding.
Basically they're a no go, and given the above i'd definitely avoid a 30% reduction.
Yanoo does a 10% reduction, which you might be able to get away with, but again...
It is an awesome little car, and it's been 100% reliable in the 6 months and approx 7k miles i've had it. But my commute to work is generally long straight A roads with average speed cameras. There are a couple of tight twisty roads that i can have fun down, and it's brilliant fun down them, but...
Think i've decided i'm going to part with my 182 and get something a little more comfortable, as i'm doing more mileage than i originally thought i'd do and its just a little too loud and comfortable really. I do love the car though and i'll be gutted to see it go.
What do you reckon its worth...
